Ebay, Paypal Seller Help
Adzz
Hi, i recently sold an IPhone 5 on ebay which was given to me as a gift. The buyer paid via paypal. But asked if he could pick the item up as he was local to the area for the day and needed it before he goes on holiday.
I agreed so the buyer came and collected the item. (Was happy to do so as by looking at his account it appeared buyer collected Alot of items he bought and received positives for.
(In addition i have sold items of lesser value were buyer wanted to collect and never had a problem doing so)
Now the next day i recieve a message from ebay to say that the lising has been cancelled because; the seller account was accessed by an unauthorized person. The payment made via paypal has also been frozen and is being reversed because ; the buyer claims it was Unauthorized.
It also, appears all the positives he had recieved for collecting items had disappeared.
I have contacted ebay who are just advising me in circles on how they are a venue for sales etc and it appeared we were getting nowhere.
I have attempted to call paypal and explain my situation but have called outside of their office hours. (Will be calling them asap)
I am feeling very distressed over this matter as i am currently a student and cannot afford to make such a loss in my current financial situation.
It would be much appreciated if someone could advice on how i can resolve this situation.

Bad news I'm afraid.
It is almost a 100% certainty that you will lose the money that you received and will have very little chance of being able to recover your phone.
By allowing the phone to be collected you have failed to fulfill one of the main requirements needed for seller protection and that is that when a buyer claims an unauthorised payment, you must be able to prove that the item was sent to the paypal registered address.
You should report the theft to the police, but in all honesty, unless there are multiple reports about the same scammer, they won't really do anything apart from giving you a crime number.0 -

Many thanks for the reply.
i have complained to them and they have advised me to contact the police and show them a report.
however, after informing the police they have advised me to get the handset blocked.
But because; it was bought from apple unlocked, and was never activated. How can i still have it barred. (i still have all the original receipts etc)
thanks, again0 -
Use the IMEI number to get the handset blocked.
Other than this, nothing you can do as it's a common scam and any Paypal payment then requires proof of delivery.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Its essential to take cash for collect items, and not paypal - to avoid this sort of thing.0

Hi, as the phone was not activated or used with any sim. It was purchased from apple themselves.
or who should i contact to have the phone blocked. As i have contacted my own personal carrier (02) and they said i should contact a carrier, which my phone is used with. But the phone was stolen from me unactivated.0
