It's absolutely lush..can post the recipeep if you like.

Courgette or beetroot and chocolate also works really well in a cake...it's a great way of eating some of your 5 a day:rotfl:

Reporting a 2nd SFD today. Tomorrow will be spendy though as I will be trying out ordering an asda delivery. The only supermarket near me is sainsburys and I'm wondering if I can save enough to make the delivery charges worth it.

    Budget for the month

    £75 - groceries
£75 - misc (mostly buying stuff for going on holiday in September)

My MSE achievement today was making chocolate cookies to stop me buying Sainsburys bakery cookies. I even have some in the freezer so that should carry me through to my holiday.

PS: I'm also fascinated by the idea of beetroot cake, but not very fond of beetroot. Courgette cake sounds good though, especially with chocolate

A SFD for me today, easy as I finished work this morning and have been lazing all day, as I am in for the next 4 nights. I got a text from work about 2 overtime shifts, but didn't bother to reply, I'm sure the shifts will still be there when I go in tomorrow. I also want to see who I am working with before I volunteer.

I am getting really fed up with work Wednesday morning was the last of 6 night shifts in a row (which I swore I would never do again), not only am I tired, but feel it's not appreciated by management and they don't help. Monday I only had 2 members of staff and had to wait for an agency worker to turn up. She was 2.5 hours late, so I was working on my own, until she arrived. For the last 30 minutes she kept phoning for directions as she kept getting lost, a) I don't drive and b) I was trying to give out medication. Some of the patients were ok and less demanding as they knew I was on my own, other's didn't care.

All I can say is that the company I work for are so lucky I messed up and am in debt, that I need all these shifts and have to take what they dish out until I am debt free. I can't wait to waltz in to work and tell them I am no longer at their beck and call, roll on June 2014 if not sooner.

    Morning all,

Yesterday was a spendy day with a trip to Lidl & the chinese. I've got my nephews today so that will be sweets and I'm picking up tea for tomorrow. I'm planning on having a SFD tomorrow and most of next week.

  • Hi all

Sorry that it's gotten to the 3rd before I've even checked in on here. I am busy spending quality time with the family as it's so rare that all 4 of us are off together.

Budget figures are in my siggy. It looks high, but the holiday came in under budget last month, so I have a little left over. Plus no nursery fees (ever again!!!) although kids club as of next month when littlest starts school. So I do want to spend some of this cash with the kids, not just on uniforms but on having a couple of treats over the hols.

Not managed a nsd yet this month, and highly unlikely I'll make the target but it won't stop me trying. I did the biggest food shop yesterday for months! But it's to try and stop us eating out too much. We've done far too much of that this past week, so I'm making sure that we have plenty of good, planned food options in the house.

Today I have to go to the butchers so no nsd here either, unless I just get my sister's stuff and not mine.

Not sure what else we'll do - I think I'll try and find something free or almost free.

I've looked up our local food bank. Not sure how to go about donating or volunteering though - best look a bit closer. I think it'll do the kids good to do something worthwhile for an hour or two.

    Have a good day all.

Not sure I'm getting this yet! still no SFD! Thurs got a taxi to friends cos she was having a lovely dinner party so I wanted to be able to have a glass of wine or 2 but my DD1 picked me up in turn of a batch of cupcakes for her friends birthday - so spend could of been higher. Did manage to stay away for work caf! though! Yesterday - aging not a SFD! Was good all day but let myself down by forgetting to take something out of the freezer and buying a takeaway at £5.40.
Was trying to work out my budgets for the month but I have such a busy month ahead its proving to be quite a challenge. Will finish it off and update later! Right off to pick up the steam stripper! Stripping walls in my DS bedroom this weekend! Yuk!!! so again today won't be a SPD (£13 to hire the stripper for the weekend)
  • I could make a joke about a cheaper stripper but I shan't. Judi you are trying, and thinking about yours spends - that's the aim of the game. It's hard to get started with but will soon become addictive.

IWillSucceed such a lovely post to leave us all. Great to see you checking in and still on MSE! Lurk if u want, drop in now and then and let us know how your getting on!! Hugs!!

SFD for sure today.. Waiting for my friend to show up and off to the beach we go. It will be a late in the day check in for me later in the evening so I'm wishing you all a glorious Saturday (it's gonna rain here ) and a very merry attempt at an SFD for everyone.. Ha!

Mummy's cakes turned out quite epic.. Shame I whacked the cream cheese frosting on before she added the butter and lemon juice. Amateur clearly. We'll still eat it..

    Right I'm off!

    Onwards and Upwards!!!!
