  • Afternoon everyone :-))

Spent some money today..... But only because I had to :-))

Budgeted £75 for shopping..... And came in slightly under at £74.31.... Whoop!

Withdrew £10 for the end of month treats :-))). I will enjoy looking out for something fab to spend it on.

Bought a couple of extra bits for the food bank, tins, cereal, shampoo. I have found a local one which is open on Monday 10:30 - 12. I will take the kids along with me and explain what we are doing and why..... It will be a great education for them Xx

Spent £8 on petrol. This should get me to the middle of next week when I can re-assess how much more we need.

Have a great Debt Busting day everyone.....

    Enchanted Xx
Debt total before IVA = £43,350.

First shop of the month done - 105 euros in Ald*. I got quite a lot of stuff so I'm hoping it'll last (things don't though with teenagers behaving like locusts!). No other spend though.

My job is totally new - first one for 5 years! I'll be teaching a bit of science at a private college in the city nearby. I'm actually quite scared but that's more to do with going back to work in general, rather than science teaching specifically.

I really need to get on with planning but it is so very hot here I can't think straight!
    Trying to keep in budget.

I would love to be able to give you guys a budget for the month but my own personal schedule is all over the place I can't even estimate how much I'm likely to spend on anything as different events I enjoy happen at different times and if friends want to go as well, it just make it more difficult to balance a work life time scale to budget.

What I can say is that a cinema evening last night instead of Wednesday cost me a NSD, even worse, the one eyed dragon showed up on the car and requested feeding, so another £40 down the fuel pipes.

Today, according to schedule should be a NSD so fingers crossed nothing un-towards crops up.

I will attempt to manage 15 NSD in August which considering ever weekend I have 2 days of cricket playing or umpiring and a beer afterwards means at least 8 NSD without thinking.

From now on, I will be following all your lot's solid advice and buy cheaper but just as good quality foods.

I currently can't contribute financially to be able to donate to local food bank which in times of needs such as now could used everyone's assistance.

Payments outnumber income massively and I am set to beat my goals as per my originally post with your encouragement.

Further spends planned will be done at the same time as other normal shopping.

Thanks for your advice and help.

    Hello everybody...

SFD for me so it seems. Got up super late with no time to call a girlfriend to organise a get together which is okay I guess - no one was really expecting me. Daddy's birthday today but we are celebrating tomorrow properly at the beach as he is desperate for a swim and so am I whether it rains or not...

Super enthusiasm from you all. I am loving the posts and reading how you all plan to tackle the month. Big_Sved well done you on cancelling nights out. You are clearly addicted like some of us on here and yes it's definitely therapy reading what others are going through...

Rain rain rain here for the moment. The sun was shining while I was getting up and now a downpour has ensued just as the dog was gonna get a walk. He can wait now I think.

Dan13l it sounds like your budget it tight as it can be.. how often would you go out in a month and spend money? Would it be hard to give anything up..? I know you are in for the long haul though so I can assume the days out are to stop you going mental (this is why I have the cinema and gym on monthly fees)..

Enchanted well done on the kiddie education. I think the more they are involved the better in all this debt busting. We cannot let the next generation become the dreaded "credit generation". Time to break old habits etc.. and may I say a glorious round of applause for coming in under your £75 with such grace. Good job! :T

Happy I love that your Mum said what she did. I think parents are more than happy to help out when they see you are changing things for the better despite the struggle. It means she gets to spend her money on things she knows you need as opposed to buying something that is not helpful but in order to buy her grandkiddies something... see this whole open and honest policy will change Great Britian one person at a time..

How many of you are planning confessions to close friends in order to help your cause in the long run...?

Quick - rain has stopped, gotta get doggie walked.. back soon...

Thanks NJK. I have really had to look at the amount of times I go out and spend money on beer/socialising etc. and realised that I need to have a lifestyle change at least in the shortterm. The one luxury I have kept is my Gym membership (which is a deal to get a 12 month membership so cant cancel it anyway) but It means I can spend time here, instead of going mental when there are things on I cant go to. Oh and also the cinema card. I figured a night out cost anything between £50-£200 So if I Curb 3-4-5 of these a month, I can justify getting fit and keeping sane in the gym.

Dan13l welcome to the site. Best of luck this month. I know its hard but why not have a water after the cricket? I have started doing this after my golf instead of spending £10-£20 on a couple of pints. The guys take the mickey the first time but get used to it. You can use the - Im trying to lose a few pounds instead of the money excuse - this is what I do.

    Best of luck all!

    I kind of confessed today?!

I met some friends for lunch as I'm back in the north for work and we were talking about my ongoing saga of finding somewhere to live for my new job (see my other posts if you want to be bored!) - I said I wouldn't pass a credit check for a letting agent and I was trying to find a private landlord, so without going into detail they kind of knew I was having money problems. They looked a bit uncomfortable so I didn't elaborate further!

A bit of a plus today - I just got refunded my money I prepaid for breakfast at the budget hotel chain I'm staying at as its not being served early enough so I'll be gone before its out. That refund has just paid my WiFi! With pennies to spare to stop at a wee shop enroute to work in the morning to grab some fruit and a drink for brekky. It means sacrificing my NSD tomorrow but from Sunday I should be flying with NSDs as won't have anything left to buy!

In response to your question I don't go out as per heavy drinking at weekends so my cricketing is the get out the house moments. So I'd guess 8 days at minimum as assuming 4 weekends per month.

On top of that, the 2nd Mortgage is for a property I will hopefully be moving into in due course once renovated of course. So balancing the NSD and actually completing these goals are difficult but very manageable if done correctly.

Onto letting others know, I don't think I would unless really got pushed into telling them that this is what I want to do. I don't want to a dead weight mortgageer forever.

Thank you very much, a pleasure to join like minded individuals.

I'm sure that could be tried and be name called and have the mickey took out of rather than break the bank which is why I'm here.

Glad you're talking from experience so it must work.

Will certainly try this weekend and see how far it get's.

If other's pay job done ;) lol
