What was it removed for, not in proper control or careless?

Neither,I was diagnosed a while back with alzheimers disease and insurance companies take a dim view of driving with that.

When I briefly had the Chrysler 300 I never needed to tailgate anyone everyone got out the way pronto, in the Panda many can't be bothered to pull in.

I had several white Rover 800s back in the 90's. Traffic just used to melt away in front of me.

    Why?

Because they continued on whilst you were coasting onto the hardshoulder.

Gloomendoom means that the less observant drivers in front thought that it was a police car.

I used to get the opposite effect with a white maestro, less observant drivers in front would keep slowing to 28mph all the time......
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

He/she may have been trying to money save by using the drag of the lorry to save fuel.

The best tailgating video I ever saw was this Filmed on the 3-lane stretch of the A12 from Marks Tey to Spring Lane.

Some of the comments on there are as frightening as what the van's doing! How can anyone seriously defend the way that van was driven under any circumstances at all?

Presumably at least some of those commenters have driving licences, which would be terrifying except that they seem to be in Eseex which is a long way from here :D

It's 100% possible for a lorry to do 70mph. Firstly, when fully laden lorries go downhill you'll often see them braking. The momentum of the load and vehicle is pushing the lorry and the limiter can't control 44 tonnes.

I was in the left hand lane on the M1 last year doing 62mph as my works van has a limiter fitted. An artic in the middle lane came past me and just kept going so clearly he was doing more than 56mph. On the uphill he slowed and I went past him, it's illegal and VOSA will fine you but chances of being caught are slim with the number of lorries on the road.
Secondly, only lorries over a certain age are limited. I often see old lorries, late nineties come past me when I'm doing 62mph, they must be touching 70mph. On this occasion it's legal I believe as it's to do with age. Some foreign trucks also travel faster and some trucks even mess with the limiter to stop it from working..

I regularly get tailgated, the only thing I do is... NOTHING!! Stay at the same speed and never break the speed limit. I love doing 30mph in a 30 mph zone and seeing people get annoyed

    It's a limit not a target

I'm not sure I believe the OP totally, however, I've come across the odd foreign truck that's certainly doing a lot more than 60 mph, admittedly, not very often.

They still have to have tachographs fitted, and they would record the speed. This would be a serious offence.

I think you are probably right. But it is extremely dangerous, as they found out.

However, someone's got to check the tacho, I would think there are tens of thousands of drivers with valid HGV licences in this country, that's an awful lot of tachos to check, highly unlikely to get caught unless pulled over.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world
