Tailgate and speed

I've seen plenty of HGV accidents on the M20. They can't stop on a 10p. They push the car along and it goes under the truck or folds around the truck and off the road.
Interesting that most posters don't accept OP's words at face value. Posters think he must be at fault for being tailgated.
Kind of the same attitude on the road. Drivers tailgate or cut close to pass a car that's in their way to make a point - Get out of my way.
No tolerance.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -

It seems to be a common misconception that the ability to make lots of drama (smoke from tyres, juddering, nose diving to the floor and so on) equates to good stopping power. HGVs are very good indeed at giving drama under heavy braking.
One of the worst cases was the old "kill your speed" tv campaign where the driver slides into the child with all wheels locked (so still doing almost the same speed as when he applied them) and kills her "because he was doing 35". If he'd used his brakes correctly, without locking his wheels, he would have easily stopped before reaching her. But, yet again, it's easier to police a measurable quantity like speed than it is to call out incompetence!0 -

Sounds like you are making excuses for bullying and intimidating behaviour from HGV drivers, I actually do leave a good gap, however, unforeseen situations do occur, maybe the cause of the incident happened in lane 2 from an overtaking vehicle, with vehicle or deris coming in to lane 1, as a professional driver, the truck driver should be considering every eventuality and clearly the driver of a 44 tonne truck is gambling with peoples lives by deliberately not leaving sufficient stopping distance.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

The OP wouldn't be tailgated by a truck at 70mph, as they claimed.0 -

Exactly, regardless of what anyone else is ranting on about, this ^^ is a fact.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
