My problem with cyclists is there is no cumpolsary awareness course, licencing or insurance.

Many cyclists simply do not know the rules of the road (and many motorists dont either), are not aware of traffic around them and believe themselves to be higher than drivers (because it's green, because its... whatever the reason)

The simple fact is, if a cyclist takes you're wing mirror off, or causes you to swerve, they will carry on their merry way and you've got no chance of finding them

you will probably find that most cyclist are more aware of traffic than drivers are.

they have to be to keep safe.

drivers especially dont know the rules when it comes to cyclists, judging by how many overtake you far too closely.

i dont think im higher than drivers, althou im sure i will be accused of it due to the way i ride.
But its down to drivers misunderstanding rather than me thinking im better

i've also seen drivers crash into other cars or take off thier wing mirrors and carry on as well.

I have hit someones wing mirror before, but it was the drivers fault, not mine. Not that he saw it that way thou

People get a lot of daft ideas about cyclists, the fact is that your looking for reasons to hate them, when most of them don't do anything wrong.

Uh, i dont hate them? I just think that it should be licenced and insured to be on the road?

The fact is 90% of drivers dont do anything wrong to me either, but they still licenced, insured, road worthy etc.

But hey, cyclists cant take criticism either...

I doubt i'll find that, the cyclists wont stop at the red lights for me to ask him....

Like i said, there's bad cyclists and bad drivers. But absolutely no reason why licensing and insurance cant be brought in

So what do you do with the under 10s who have no licence or insurance?

Don't think you're thought that one through.;)

i always stop at red lights, and im often along side other cycles who do as well.

just as many cars jump red lights as cyclists (more infact as theres more cars on the road)

i do see cyclists jump red lights, but i also see alot of cars that do as well.

compulsory licensing doesn't stop drivers from behaving badly and breaking the rules, so why would it for cyclist ?
also many cyclists already do have insurance.

im just surprised u havn't mentioned road tax yet

No, you would need evidence of excess speed other than from their tacho.

You pull a vehicle look at the charts then do him for speeding if that's the only evidence you have. ;)

Now please stop making things up.

Make sure you know your subject before commenting. You can be prosecuted for exceeding the national speed limit from tacho records, because they would show that you exceeded it. This is one of the things that tachos exist for.

? Stuck in traffic, and one comes 'wizzing' past and takes a mirror off, hows the driver at fault?

Cyclist runs a red light and causes the driver to swerve, hows that the drivers fault?

Stop defending bad cyclists. You're right they are more vulnderable than me, perhaps someone should tell them...

You mention two specific situations only. I was talking in general terms.

Then please post a link to this new legislation.

There is on probably about it.

Is this something you have a knowledge of or are you making things up as you go along?

Do what you do for most threads, and look on google, as you obviously don't know the facts.
