Still onwards and upwards

hi guys - I had no internet yesterday so couldn't report my own 10 mile (well 10.5 actually!) slow steady midweek run.
10.59 average pace.....bigger blisters than ever which are now very very much a nightmare, and when I was walking back to the car I fell over a kerbstone and went flat on my face, so rather grazed and bruised this morning!
So, running was good.......and I am learning to work through the pain barrier at the same time, so tht has to be a positive, right?!!
Good running from everyone it seems - have a good day today!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning Hypno - thats a great run, sorry about the blisters
- have you switched back to your old trainers now??
Cant believe you fell over - hope nothing is too bruised and it gets better soon (((((hug)))))
Doing my intervals this evening because I overslept - 5:30 didnt look that good to me today and since we dont get our heating back/hot water back till tonight I really didnt fancy trapsing into work sweaty from an interval session (the hills are in the wrong direction from work to make it part of the run in unfortunately)
Happy running everyone else0 -

Thurs15/1 Rest Day
Morning one and all!!:D
Well I set off on the 12 miler this morning. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be.
After the normal warming up period the legs were still feeling pretty heavy and it was clear it was going to be one long struggle all the way through.
Added together with the feeling in the legs on Tuesday, this is the muscles going through a phase of absorbing the cumulative miles and they just need to be left to get on with it!
So, if previous experience is anything to go by, there should be some point in the next 3-10 days (Sunday would be nice) when everything clicks and comes back stronger.
Happy running everyone - it looks like winter is over, spring is on its way!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Ukevas - Those times are certainly going in the right direction, but the hour at which they're done is still pretty scary!:p
Hypno - Excellent effort on the 10.5 miles. But ouch and ouch - I hope you're not feeling too much like you've been through a car crusher this morning! Those blisters don't sound good, but they always go away soon enough.:D
Becky - Well done on joining the 'Missing a run through oversleeping' club - that now makes two of us!:p Although I can see why you'd prefer to have a warm shower available at the end of an interval session, rather than an icy cold one!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I miss a run through oversleeping every day!
Enjoy your additional rest day, rich. I won't be running tonight as I am working straight from one job into another, but tomorrow if I am still walking, I will head around the block again - aiming for a longer run at the weekend, possibly 12 or 14 miles.....
My run yesterday was the furthest I have been on my own (ie not counting the half marathon where there were 2500 others) so it was quite good for me to prove to myself that I have got the discipline to do the longer runs purely with my own motivation (if that makes sense!).
I've not yet gone back to my old trainers, because in every other respect the new ones are good - my hips no longer hurt (well, they didn't until I tripped over and got bruised!) and that is a huge difference.
Just need to let the blisters sort themselves out, although as I proved yesterday, they won't stop me running!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Well I'm okay because I only planned one run today so I'll just shift it to the afternoon - anyway I did wake up - but I consciously decided to go back to sleep - not sure if thats quite oversleeping on your scale
Well done Hypno - I hadnt realised that was your farthest solo run - its great when you get into the gooves and the miles just slip by isnt it? Do you find your blisters dont hurt while you are running - all my aches seem to disappear and then come back when I stop which is nice because it doesnt interfere with my running0 -
thanks becky - no my pain was very much with me every step! A bit like your metronome type noise in your bag, except mine was "ooh" "eee" "ooh" "ow".............:rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Owwwww that is nasty - I so would have given up, but then I am a big wuss, I only run when I feel good - I currently have blisters but from some new high heels - I'm dreading buying new trainers next weekend in case they have the same effect
