Also, putting your hands further apart, or closer together (especially making a diamond with your thumbs and forefingers in the middle of your chest) makes pressups much more tricky, or putting your feet up on a step - I used to do 3 or 4 different positions for pressups... *sigh*0 -

Hi all, just been out for a 6miler. I don't know what was wrong, because the first half-hour I thought I might just turn round and walk back home. I couldn't breathe properly, my legs felt like lead weights and I was just generally out of sorts. Second half of the run was great though. I was loosened up and it felt easy. So what is that all about?
It isn't cold here at all so it isn't as though it took ages to get my muscles warmed up.
Still, at least I am sitting here with a nice warm glow, having run and showered and ready for my tea.
PS These fitness tests sound tough. I'm not much good at sit-ups or press-ups either, although I can manage a few press-ups on the wiiSealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Aww Chick sorry to hear about your hard start - perhaps your muscles were just a bit stiff and needed running past the point where you get lactose build up??
Been out for my 10 miler and under new plan ran as slowly as possible finished in 1:38 on a 88 pulse (tee hee) so that puts me at 9.50 min/miles right?? Anyway, its all good groundwork for Sunday, our boiler is still broken so no shower for me until tomorrow morning at work now so its a good job I didnt get very sweaty
Happy running/situps/pressups all...0 -
Hi Becky, yes it may have been the residual effects of the intervals. Also, I ran in the afternoon and I never do this, so maybe my body was in shock at what it was being asked to do in the afternoon!
How did you enjoy running slowly? You have to be very disciplined to keep the pace slow. I'm sure you found yourself speeding up and had to make the effort to take the pace down again.
I'm sure a liberal spray of deodorant will suffice instead of a shower.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Don't worry, Chickadee. If it had been the other way round it might have been worth more analysis, but if your body sorted itself out mid-run I'd say thats a result!:D
It could be anything, but that sounds like something in your bloodstream that you just had to work out - it can even be something like drinking a different coffee for example.
Well done, Becky. Keep that pulse low and all will be well. The next phase in the plan is to get the pulse so low that you can actually sleep during your runs!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks guys
Nope it wasnt hard - but I did cheat slightly - I had something rattling in my bag and I was using the rate of rattle like a metronome 'tick, tick, tick' it was great for telling me when I was speeding up unconsciously
The only problem was the cold muscles - brrr its cold out this evening and running below the point at which you warm up isnt fun
But I feel pretty good now - longest midweek run to date and plenty of time to shave off on Sunday0 -
It is quite a milestone when 10 miles becomes a mid-week run rather than being a long run.
Its a distance that you couldn't contemplate not so long ago, and now its just a gentle detour home from work!:D

Yeah I saw quite a few probable first timers tonight - I kept thinking to myself - 'that was me in June last year, running one length of Battersea park and having to work so hard to do it, I hope they keep it up' - I was getting all emotional about the positive influence running has had on my life - oh dear silly me0
