I was awake at 3am too becky, but running never crossed my mind - I ended up reading for an hour before I could get back to sleep.

I'm back in work again too today - Christmas holidays don't last long here!!

Hope the funeral goes ok tomorrow x

    Hi everyone,

Rich - you are making amazing progress. Fantastic time for 18 miles, and a top 10 finish as well - brilliant! So how long before you are top 5?

OH and I have decided to definitely do Prague in May. I need to register before 31st Dec because prices go up then so that'll be a job for tomorrow. Did my 4.25-miler this morning. I wasn't expecting miracles as my training has been so sporadic over the last month but decided to go anyway. I surprised myself by being only 11 seconds slower than my previous best for that route so I obviously haven't lost too much fitness or speed over the festive season.

We have been looking for a local-ish 10k race this weekend but there are none to be had, so we have decided to go a little further afield and have a night away as well ;) and do the Pennine 10k next Sunday in Brighouse. Sounds hilly but I'll let you know how we get on. OH is now starting to panic as he isn't really in the swing of his London training yet and time is rolling on.

I'm feeling really motivated at the moment, hope I can sustain it!

The list stays the same for now, been busy with the kitchen. Mainly travelling from the kitchen to the local supply store, in the car.

Hopefully might get out later, just had breakfast, both kids asleep & wife in bed. Might go out about 8-30am when the light picks up.

Its ment to be cold out there today.

No running as such for me yesterday - but I did do a swift sprint from the office to the car park yesterday as I was late working and about to get locked in - it was hard work - all the way through town with stillettos and heavy bags and below freezing making my lungs burn!

Still, I got (just) to the car in time so that is the main thing!

I hope to go round the block (about 4 miles) this evening after work, then nothing for tomorrow, but my 10k on Thursday morning.

It is incredibly cold out there at the mo - wrap up warm everyone!

becky - thinking of you today x

    Morning All,

Checked my training plan last night to see I was supposed to be doing a 10K time trial today - wasnt mentally prepared at all but thought I'd give it a bash - got about 2 miles in and just couldnt concentrate at all - kept thnking I was going to miss my train (which is silly as I have loads of time) so yeah not too much running in today - I'll see you all tomorrow!

    Happy running everyone :D
  • Becky - Well done on giving it a go, but its not surprising that you have other things on your mind today!

Hypno - Running in stillettos....is that even possible? It sounds a little 'awkward'!

Chickadee - I'm nearly certain to be doing the Pennine 10K on Sunday as well. With the distance work now being up to schedule there is no pressure to do a long run this week so a 10K race fits the bill pretty well. I'm going to leave it until Sunday to decide for sure but at least with entries on the day you can do that in this race!:D

The course is on my normal training patch. The first 5K is lightning fast with a steep drop from the start and then flat to 5K. However, the killer is that at 5K you take a blind left turn and immediately face a 340ft continuous climb. But the last 1.5 miles is incredibly fast as well being downhill all the way. So a tough climb, but at least all the uphill is done in one go and then its over. Ian Fisher won last year in 31:49 so it doesn't seem to affect times too much!:D

I'm probably going to run the course tomorrow instead of my normal 10K, I'll let you know how it feels!

I certainly didn't look glam or fit as I dashed across town.......not something I really want to repeat in a hurry, but it gave the late night sale shoppers something to laugh at, I'm sure!

I knew I'd seen something about running in stillettos, you need to be training for this race:

Watch them go! They cant be any quicker in running shoes.

But they are cheating - they're not carrying any bags!

Hey Rich, let me know if you are going to run. It would be great to put a face to the avatar! The route sounds quite challenging, very similar to the Accrington 10K that I did a few weeks ago. Hopefully I will be faster than I was last time (57:35).
