    Morning All!

Just got back from my run! Managed 10 miles in 1.30 at 120 pulse but I had been very warm all the way round and had to stop at mile 10 and head back home since the time of month decided it was going to arrive at that moment :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anyway I was on course for 1.50 and since I havent done any strength work this week its not too disappointing - I'll get it next time :D

    Hope everyone has good runs!

Excellent work becky - shame about the timing, and having to cut short!

I did 4.93 miles in 50:26 so an average of 10:13 a mile - gives me hope for doing that 10k on New Years day in about 60 mins. It was quite blustery and I was running round country lanes so very exposed - whichever way I ran, the wind was against me it seemed!

Anyway, I am very pleased with what I did. I will head out again tomorrow after work.

Happy running guys! I am glad to be back into it without any adverse effects!

  • Becky - Nice effort, especially considering the adverse gremlins. That is certainly another chunk of improvement on your 1-54 12 miler last time, you wouldn't have taken 24 minutes for another two miles.

So if you were feeling well 1-48, or even a little bit quicker might have been possible. A nice positive note to end a mixed week on!:D :D

Hypno - With a run like that you have got to be in the vicinity of 60 mins for 10K, even if you don't quite do it. Just the pure fact that its a race will take a couple of minutes off, so good luck. Have you worked out which race yet?

Thanks Rich - I will do the Wymondham 10k - not done it before so I don't know what it is like. Runners world says it is undulating........but then most of the lanes round here are, so nothing out of the ordinary there.

My MiL lives on the seafront in Yarmouth and we are going there for Christmas day - I am hoping there is a "measured mile" somewhere along the front that I can incorporate into some speedwork.

Okay, this was the BIG ONE - the first test of how things are really going. The idea of a session like this is to put everything on the line and not leave yourself wondering!

The session was done on the track, because I find running 56 laps on a track is a great mental discipline and helps to switch off and practise letting the miles slip by, which is what is needed in a marathon.

So, suffice to say I am absolutely delighted with the times that came out of this session:

    14 Miles 1:49:50 (7:51/mile) (previous best 2:06:36)

    Half Marathon 1:42:44 (7:51/mile) (previous best 1:58:41)

    12 Miles 1:34:05 (7:51/mile) (previous best 1:45:59)

    10 Miles 1:18:29 (7:51/mile) (previous best 1:28:49)

    First 10K 49:12, Second 10K 48:54

If I had been told 16 weeks ago that I'd have managed a 1-42 half marathon before xmas I would have been more than sceptical, so I am just slightly buzzing at the moment!:D :D:D

This is also a good example of how tapering before a race works. To come off 50 miles per week and then run just 8 miles in 5 days during the week meant that everything was refreshed and ready to push on!

Whats more its the shortest day of the year - that means from now on Summer is on the way!!:D :D

Happy running one and all - what a great sport!:D

    Thanks Becky.

Its great when a plan comes together, as they say, and I had high expectations for today - but the times that came out of it were even better than I had dared hope for at this stage - so the word 'wow' came to my lips a couple of times!!:D :D
