  • I have to mention one thing from this morning's race which tells you how little you decline with age if you keep training.

The guy who finished 13th, 2 places in front of me, was about 20 secs behind me at 3k. That means he took roughly a minute out of me over the last 2K......and he's nearly 70!

It was such an inspiration to see that - there's hope for all of us!:D :D

And he's run the race 27 times this year with his SLOWEST time being 21:59. Impressive!

PS Then again I was being chased by an attractive young female student - I wonder if there was some subconscious slowing in the equation? :p

Yes, I am feeling fairly confident about the week ahead - lots of 4-6 mile distances I think over Christmas and New Year then hitting the milage a bit more in January building up for the big day!

I agree with the age thing - just the fact that after only 7 weeks, at the age of 38, I could run a half marathon in the same time as I did when I was 19 is proof really!

Just think how fast I will be then by the time I am 70 :rotfl:

But 38 is pretty much 'at your peak' so you haven't started to age yet as far as distance running is concerned!:D :D

The trouble with keeping fit at 70 is that those free bus passes must tempt you into getting lazy!:p :p

Oh god, I don't want to be at my peak just yet.........I want it to get better first!!!

Can I not peak in a couple of years - once I have got my sub 4 marathon, my sub 1:50 half, and my sub 50 10k?

    Please?

Well done hypno and P - if you can get round distances when you're finding it tough it makes you feel soo much better when you're having a good day!

Good luck with 5-6 miler tomorrow Hypno :D

Oh I'm not commenting on the age thing...;)
