thanks becky - I think it is just a case of starting sensibly! I am really glad I did the half marathon - gives me more of an incentive to carry on - I fear that if I had only got up to 4 or 5 miles previously, I would be starting to think there was no point in getting back on with it!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Mon15/12 Rest Day
Tues16/12 3 x 1 mile (7:18, abandoned, abandoned)
Weds17/12 10K 55:42 (Pulse 102)
Thurs18/12 Rest Day - Throat Infection
Fri19/12 Rest Day - Throat Infection
Sat20/12 ParkRun Leeds Hyde Park 5K 21:44 (http://www.parkrun.com/Default.aspx?tabid=257 - Event 64, Posn 15th)
Okay, well I think the throat infection has been beaten. Managed the 5K race in a new PB so I can't be too unwell!:D The series of races have now gone:
22nd Nov 23:21 Posn 45th
29th Nov 22:47 Posn 50th
6th Dec 22:08 Posn 25th
20th Dec 21:44 Posn 15th
So with 15 weeks to go to marathon day I'm pleased with how the speed work is progressing (the 21:44 on this course is probably worth close to sub 20 mins on a flat 5k). Tomorrow will show how the speed endurance is getting on with the 14 mile time trial!
Hypno - getting drunk without touching a drop or spending a penny is very MSE! Good luck with your run!
Good luck with all other weekend running everyone - forget the shopping, running is far more fun!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

another excellent run, Rich, well done!!
If I get on ok today, I will enter a local 10k for New Year's Day - I want to be able to run close to 60 mins, although I know that it is unlikely to be below that, but I don't really want to be much over!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Thanks Hypno - it certainly felt good, mainly due to being strong after only doing 8 miles so far this week.
If you go for a 10K on New's Year day just take the first 5K gently and then push harder in the second half if you're feeling good. Its always the best recipe for getting the best time!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks Becky!:D
No, I think Top 10 is quite some way off - 15th today was more of a reflection of quite a small field I think! But at least the time is going in the right direction!:D
I'm waiting for the results to go up (they're due about now) because I suspect the race was won by a lady and I want to know who it was cos she wasn't hanging around!
Edit: The winner was actually Sarah Tunstall in 17-13. She's represented England at fell running in the world championships, so that explains why she looked a bit speedy!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Afternoon...
Went out for my run and managed 5.25 miles in 48 mins pulse 120 - not bad but still not feeling up to my usual self - the chest is still a bit off...anyway jogged very lightly the rest of the way of the way home and since I was over yesterday on distance its quite nice to save something for tomorrow
Hope your run went well Hypno!0 -

Thats about what you needed, Becky - more than 4 miles, but not too intense. You'll probably feel great tomorrow if you're in the home straight of recovery now.
A nice easy relaxing day today and a steady start tomorrow and you should be well set to get some good distance work in!:D I can tell you're keen to get one of those 'feel good' runs in again!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Did 3.7 miles with Pania - she found it quite difficult so we had to stop a few times, but even with the stoppages, we got home in 42 mins. A few weeks ago we would have felt as though we were running flat out and still taking longer than that, so P should be pleased that she can now manage that distance in less time even on a "bad day". Progress
I found it nice and steady, which means that I will happily go out for a longer run tomorrow - still not too far, maybe 5 or 6 miles to ease myself back into it. On a selfish note, it probably did me good that P struggled, because that stopped me from going off too fast and then struggling towards the end.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. That sounds like quite a confidence booster Hypno - firstly because you can clearly see how you've improved and, secondly, how you've retained fitness through a bit of downtime.
With your comments about tomorrow you're clearly feeling quite good!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
