Hopefully ill be out again tonight, usual 5k in about <30mins if i can.
No pressing onto further distances until the new year comes and goes.
Have to master 5k in about 25mins before i press onto greater things.0 -
This is the beginner 10k

According to this, i should be able to undertake this training, as i can run 5k continous in 30mins.
To start at level 1 would take me back to below what im at, unless running actually means running. It does not stipulate speed for what you should run the 15mins, then rest & run again.
I think i should start at week 3 as practically ive been doing week 1 & 2 for the past 2 weeks.

Hi Alias,
Reading the stuff about the training plan I think you should be fine to start at week 3 - it does say not worry about speed - running 3 miles continuously doesnt have to be at a crazy pace...keep pushing yourself and you'll be at that 10k in no time
Good luck and happy running.0 -

Alias,
Becky is right (as usual:p) and your own thinking is correct - that week 3 should be fine for your level of fitness providing you take a steady approach.
The following weeks actually progress very gently, possibly too gently - you may well be chomping at the bit to do more than the schedule in 3-4 weeks time, but it is always better to let the improvement happen through steady work rather than trying to force improvement through running too hard.
Good luck with that!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi all, hope everyone is ok and recovering from illness.
I've decided not to do any hills or speed work until the new year but just get some miles in, this will give me a better base of fitness and also I still need to lose some lbs for my challenge.:D
I'm just going to run a few routes and not even concentrate on times, so won't post them all as will be boring reading. Tonight though I went out and ran 4.71 miles so very pleased with that.

Sounds like a good plan to keep your fitness building, evab.
There's nothing boring about posting your runs though, whatever the intensity - we want to know how you're getting on!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Mon15/12 Rest Day
Tues16/12 3 x 1 mile (7:18, abandoned, abandoned)
Weds17/12 10K 55:42 (Pulse 102)
Good morning all!
After yesterday's lack of energy I just wanted to ease round the 10K to see how things felt today. Something still isn't right, but I felt a bit more energetic and there doesn't look a lot wrong with the time/pulse combination.
Anyway, despite it being the week before xmas, this week will be an alcohol free week, except Friday:p , so there should be plenty chance to recover and be in decent nick by the end of the week (hopefully!!!).
On Sunday there will be 15 weeks to marathon day so there is plenty time to allow for a bit of downtime and 'recovery from nasty little bugs' time.
Equally, there will be 18 weeks left for all those doing FLM, which is a long, long time. It always seems that time is slipping away much quicker than it is, especially with that cruel ever-ticking clock on the FLM website!
Good luck with all today's runs!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Morning All
Tuesday i just did circuit training, lots of running up and down the gym, which is helping with my overall fitness.
Im going to be doing a 10k this afternoon, hoping to get under the 60 min mark but will be happy if i just match my first time of 64.50.
I just hope that i dont ache as much after this one as i did the last time, it took me 3 days to get over it and start to move more normally!!LOLRunning Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0
