Hi all, been mega-busy at work this week and went to a presentation on Tuesday evening too so I haven't had much time to post. Missed a run yesterday due to being tired and needing a night in for a change
. Did my 4.25 mile route this evening when I got home and knocked a minute off my best time so far! :T 37:28 so well under 9 min miles (8:50 ave). I felt more than able to carry on too so if this was a 10K I would have been well under 55 mins and I had to stop for traffic a few times too, which doesn't normally happen in races.
Just checked my plan and can't believe how much progress I have made in only 5 weeks. I'm really pleased with how my running is going and how much more comfortable I feel when I'm running that bit quicker.
I felt a bit of tightness in my left calf muscle tonight so I'll see how that feels tomorrow.
Becky - sorry to hear about the knee. Hope its feeling ok to run on. Don't add too many more bruises to it when you are skating will you?
Idio - muddy running - you'll be entering the 'Tough Guy' next!
Rich - solid progress as usual. Good job we don't have to wait for a nice sunny day to go for a run. We'd all be couch potatoes I think!
Poorbabe - Best of luck for your BIG RACE! I'm sure you'll be great!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

No run for me today - I woke with a cold and have just got this overwhelming tiredness.....so another night off for me. There seems little point in trying to push myself when I already have a pulse of 170 when running anyway! I will probably rest until the weekend and then go for a nice long steady run on Sunday, by which time I will be fully rested.
becky that knee sounds painful

Hi all I've missed my runs this week but will be back out tomorrow to continue my progress. Only 1 month until Xmas and another stone to lose!
I worked out that I only have 5 1/2 weeks before I go back to work, sounds lovely but the past 5 months have flown by.0 -

Hypno, make sure you listen to your body and take it easy. You can catch up on the running but if you overdo it you might go back to square one health-wise. Wise to have a rest, even though it is tempting to rush it.Hi all I've missed my runs this week but will be back out tomorrow to continue my progress. It must be scary to think that you'll be back at work after such a long break! Good luck with tomorrow's run.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Evening all
Well done on the running - chickadee thats a brilliant pace to get to in 5 weeks!
My schedule this week has been:
Done:
Mon: military training (lots of hill sprints)
Tues: run (4.9 miles, 50 mins - slower than normal)
Weds: military training (a bit of running, mainly resistance work)
Thurs: speed shopping (lol) and heavy duty cleaning / furniture moving
Planned:
Fri: rest - party!
Sat: mil training followed by run (if not too tired from party)
Sun: run
I want to up the distance of my run on sunday particularly as likely to have had 2 rest days. I might try for 6 miles.
Good luck everyone0 -
Week13
Mon24/11 7.0 Miles Brisk Walk
Tues25/11 3 x 1 miles 6:40, 6:39, 6:45 (Pulse 134) (Average 6:41)
Weds26/11 10K 53:44 (Pulse 96)
Thurs27/11 8.0 Miles 1:07:26 (Pulse 100)
Fri28/11 10K 55:34 (Pulse 98) (6am!)
Well, on the basis that some of next week's runs are going to have to be done early morning, and the fact that I wanted to maximize the rest before the 9am race tomorrow, today seemed like a good opportunity to try out this 6am activity lark.
Due to either:
a) The fact that it was 6am.
b) The white, icy sub-zero temperatures
c) That it was only 16 hours since doing 8 miles
this was never going to be anything other than very gentle, although I suspect it was the last reason that was the most telling!
Anyway, not too bad at all and pretty enjoyable. Having said that I now have even more admiration for Becky et al who achieve this on a regular basis. Its probably best that we stop short of calling you 'The 6am Girl' though, Becky, people might just get the wrong idea.
Chickadee - its great to see you getting the obvious benefits from your efforts. The fact that you are training at speeds significantly below your benchmark race clearly shows how much you've improved and, as you say, in a short period of time. It is looking almost certain that your OH will be eating his laughter come January!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Oooo Rich 6am starts very impressive...good run though considering you were out of your usual rhythm!
Although, I'm sorry to say I've been getting in 5.30 starts this week
Thanks for everyone about my knee - its getting much better, however, I only did a 4.5 today as I'm doing my 14 miler tomorrow a day early still managed it in 35 mins on a 100 pulse so feeling good about tomorrow
Just been to register at a new Docs and my resting pulse is 51, but it seems my blood pressure is a little high - which is interesting since its always been low (I wonder if that has something to do with the double expresso I had just before arrived there??)...should I be drinking less caffine?0 -

Okay - you win!!!!!:D
Again, ticking along at just under 8 min/mile pace without the body working very hard. Looking at your pulse rates you've almost learnt to be as lazy as me!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
