Poorbabe, I think your preparation for the marathon has been fantastic - you will be fine, even without the additional 4 miles today. When do you leave for the sun?
Idio - where did you buy all your stuff from yesterday - is there a link. I still can't get over how much you bought for £50!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Becky shuffles in wearing dark glasses - Afternoon all,
So I drank rather too much last night , and got home rather late , and forgot to stock up with an isotonic drink or any sugary stuff so suffice to say todays run was hard work.
However having a lie in seems to have benefited me - all sunshine
So I managed 9 miles in 1.20 or so but when I stopped to wait for the lights at Big Ben I actually nearly collapsed and had to lean on a lamp post for a few mins - I didnt see any point doing the extra mile since I've pushed myself very hard this week...am now sitting at home drinking sugary tea trying to warm up!
Well done on your run Sally.
Snow - where?? I missed it again didnt I!!!!
Hey Poor I reckon managing over 10 miles in this weather is pretty impressive - its freezing out :eek:
Right off to lie down and nurse my head :rolleyes:0 -
lol at becky!
good for you though for still going out - but make sure you recover properly or else your drinking session will catch up with you.......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Poorbabe - well done on the 12.45. The fact that you planned 17 doesn't change the fact that you ran 12.45, which is a good session in preparation for the race anyway. With the 20 milers in your legs this won't make the slightest bit of difference. You're going to get the distance now, so relax and give yourself a well deserved pat on the back!
Becky - It sounds like it a good job they haven't passed any breathiliser laws for runners yet - you'd be getting points!:p
To be fair, it sounds like you did a remarkable job in getting that much out of your body if your blood sugar was running that close to empty. And you still achieved pretty much what was targetted so good for you.
PS Hope the wine was good and was worth the pain you suffered in return.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Yep it was worth it - had a lovely evening (except for the worst tube journey ever to get there) and used my first bus in London
Yeah I've eaten but am still craving sugar and salt - defo need to replace some nutrients I think
So I'm dying for a report on your 14 miler Rich!0 -

Summary of Week 12:
1. Fastest 5K @ 23:21
2. Fastest 10K @ 49:56
3. Fastest 8 Miles @ 1:08:49
4. Longest run @ 14.0 Miles
5. First Race
6. Transition to 'Normal' weight on BMI scale - Therefore 'Obese' to 'Normal' weight in exactly 12 weeks.
So, a good week all round with progress in a number of areas - particularly getting the first race under the belt and seeing the 10K time drop under 50 minutes.
There was no run planned for today as the Leeds Abbey Dash 10K was originally scheduled. However, with only 3 miles run in the last 2 days, and no running tomorrow, there was certainly no need for a rest day.
It, therefore, seemed sensible to bring forward the first 14 miler with no aims other than to a) Get a couple of hours of fresh air, b) Have a bit of a fat burning session and c) Break in the new running shoes.
So it was nice and easy in 2:06:36 on a pulse of 98 and felt very comfortable the whole way. In fact it was 1:03 for each 7 miles so very evenly paced and the Half Marathon time was 1:58:41.
It was nice to see that the first race coincided with becoming 'normal' weight again, it feels like some sort of milestone has been reached!!:D:D

Well done rich on another productive week :T
I am hoping to go to my new running club tomorrow, weather permitting, of course, to try and regain some of the training "lost" this weekend. I had hoped to start there last week but they held their AGM on Monday so they weren't doing a full session.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Good luck with the club, Hypno.
However, this idea of 'lost' training as some sort of debt to repay isnt necessary. All training plans assume some training will be lost. Losing up to 20% or so of sessions won't have a major impact on the overall aim.
Just carry on as though nothing has been missed and you'll be fine.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
