  • Yep, jj, I agree with Becky .......its probably her just being useless!!:p (okay I'm only joking, dont shout!).

But yes just a normal stopwatch and manually count for 30 secs and double, what could be simpler?

Accuracy in terms of getting a 'correct' pulse rate isnt that important. What is more important is taking the pulse at the same point after each run, so that you are comparing like with like and therefore see progression over time.

    Well done everyone, excellent runs.

Chick - when I said no snow round here I meant in places normal people go at this time of year not up a mountain:D, looks like fun though!

He he, well it was green when we set off and only became white at about 2,500ft. Amazing how definite the snow line is. Sort of now you see it, now you don't sort of thing. Was very good fun though and a change from the usual weekend stuff. Interestingly, there was a guy up there in shorts! Couldn't quite work out if that was brave or irresponsible, given the temperature and high winds. Rich, you thought Northerners were tough, you haven't met these Welsh types.

  • Hi All!

I've been away from this site for what seems like ages. I had my eyes lasered on Friday, and I now have 2020 vision! So no more glasses getting wet when I'm playing netball lol! Unfortunately I can't do any sport for 2 weeks (in case sweat gets into the eye), so my running is taking a backseat. Just a week ago, I had done my first 2k run, which I was very proud of!

    Anywhooo, hope you are all well;

    Speak to you soon

    Evening all:j

Becky, good luck with the 14 miler. You are making great progress :T

Bext, like Becky, I've been thinking about getting my eyes lasered for years but it wasn't possible as my prescription was too high before. Two of my friends have had it done and another one will have hers done soon. All say it's the best thing they've done.

Idio, sorry to hear about the shoes. Sounds like you're better off going to a 'proper' running shop.

Hypno, I hope you had a good time and will go back to the club.

Wish everybody else a lovely evening running or not.

    Evening
I went to my first run club tonight too...:) Good stuff and in fact I felt a pro compared to some of the runners and at times wanted them to run a bit faster ;) Not sure how far we ran, around 4-5 miles I think but it was sooooo cold.

    Week 2
    Monday (whoops nothing)
    Tuesday Walk 4 miles
    Wednesday (no run)
    Friday (no run again)
Sunday Easy Run 10 miles 1:40.03

Not a great week running down to various things happening and not being able to get out but back to it this week

    Total miles 14
    Start weight 9.3 1/2
    Weight loss this week 1lb
    Weight now 8.12 1/2
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
