    Morning All!

Wow chick - great time - and while talking!!!

FMOW - also really really good time - 4 miles is a great building block to longer runs.

Hypno - it seems to be fine here - I dont think we're getting the cold weather till Sunday so thats good :D, i dont mind running in the rain, but its rain and wind together I dont like...

Okay so was supposed to do an easy run today, but went and checked out my loop for my formal intervals starting next week and it 0.28 miles round so I did 16 loops today in 36 minutes - which is about 4.5 miles!

I was pushing pretty hard and the last two loops were a lot slower but I love it - no sure if i said but I have access to a gated garden - only remembered yesterday it has a path around the outside when I saw someone else running it as I was leaving for work...

Anyway its great - perfectly flat, no lights to stop at and no one else to move round...I mgiht do all my easy 4s in there I think as well as my interval training - and the best bit is because its locked I feel perfectly safe all the time :D

So I'm pretty chuffed with this morning's time on a pulse of around 100.

    Happy running everyone :D

    Sounds good becky!!

It is very blustery here - the wind is howling but I don't think it is raining - yet! I won't be running until about 7.30 this evening so it could be doing anything by then! We have snow forecast for Sunday too and that is the day I have pencilled in my 10 miler

Hi all, no run this morning, but have been recruited into the company football team this lunchtime. I have no idea what standard to expect, but it should be a laugh anyway. I'll let you know how it went once I've limped back into the office via a sandwich shop*.

    * No bread in to do my own this a.m., not very MSE, I know!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Was supposed to be out running but DD not very well so she is not at school and therefore I can't run. Another run missed and am starting to think that I am not going to have enough time for all this marathon training
Well done to all those good runs and hello to all the newbies

sally you have plenty of time - still 5 months to go and I bet there are loads of people with marathon places who haven't even put their trainers on yet!

You will be fine - just don't try to "catch up" too hard when you are able to run because that is when injuries occur.

Hi everyone, Just been out for a run with my ladies running & nattering group. Really enjoyed the gossip and the running wasn't bad either. 6.5 miles in 58:56, whilst talking about kids, dogs and damaged chimney pots! Am off out for the day tomorrow and then away for the weekend so I'll not be on here.

(starts trembling mildly at the thought of being away from MSE....)

Have a good rest day Rich, and enjoy the running to all who plan to run in the next day or two.

    Chickadee,

That is a very good indication of how far you've come in a short time.

If 6.5 is accurate, then you ran 10K in approx 56 minutes - while chattering away.

That is not overly surprising considering the numbers coming out of your interval sessions, but just compare that to your baseline race. You were racing hard at a slower pace than you breezed through last night.

That tends to confirm that the indication of a flat out race pace is now around 51-40, or at least it was on Monday. By next Monday, it might be showing 50-00 when you bring those strengthened buttocks back.:p

You're going to meet your target with comfort I think!

Sorry to hear that Sally. Was it an "easy" run today? If so, see the rest as helping you for the next big/hard run. If it was supposed to be a big/hard one, move it forward to replace an easy one you've got coming up?

Try to take positives where you can, I know life sometimes gets in the way and seems to conspire against your plans, but keep at it and you'll get there.

  • Evening all

I did my first 'official' run tonight as promised.

According to mapmyrun it was 4.17 miles in 38min30s. I have no idea if that is good or appalling!!

I'll just second what Idio said, that is impressive enough for a regular runner so - 'Good or appalling?' Good, I reckon! Can we put a 'very' on the front of it as well!!

I'll just add my own voice to say that is a great start. Most of us where nowhere near that standard when we started. I think your base fitness level really helps you, especially the pace will have been helped by BMT. Once your legs get used to covering the distance I'd expect you to progress very quickly. As Becky has said, 4 miles is kind of a magic number and a great distance to build from. It's the distance I run in the mornings (when I do run, anyway!) just to keep myself ticking over.

  • Becky,

You have just gone into a new territory, its all the regular work coming together and making you stronger.

An 8 min/mile rhythm at 6am on a 100 pulse is a little bit bewildering!

That is 50 minute 10K pace maintained for 4.5 miles on a very low pulse. Idio and Beer Tins are going to be quaking in their running shoes now that you and Chickadee are getting into that territory as well.:p:p

The garden sounds great - virtually your own private running track, what a great facility. And no tourists, commuters or traffic lights.

I take it when you get to 20 mile runs you might venture out of the garden though?:p
