Morning all,
Hi Becky, you're definitely a morning person aren't you? Well done on your hills this morning. Hills aren't my thing either really, unless they are of the downward gradient. You are really improving well and from the sound of your posts you are positively bubbling over with enthusiasm!
Rich, I'm going walking this weekend in the Welsh mountains, so I won't be running. I know it isn't quite what is planned but will there still be a benefit in it as far as my overall objective is concerned? We are planning to do about 10 miles and there will be hills, big ones!
Idio - are you off for a swift run at lunchtime? I might have a trot out myself, not to run, to battle at the 20% off at M&S.
Good running everyone.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Sounds good to me - it gets those buttocks developed and running is all about buttocks!!
PS When the guys first broke the 4 minute mile, the team of 4 (ie Bannister plus the pacemakers) all went hill walking in the Lake District for the week before, no other training, so it cant be that bad for you!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

No, not today...will have a bit of a rest and hope I can attack a bit harder tomorrow maybe. My legs were really shagged after yesterday's one, a nice warmth in the thighs all afternoon...0 -

Hi hope no one mines me joining in.
Been trying to get the urge to go running for a while now but 1 thing after another has given me the excuse not to start. That is is until this week.
Iv got free access to a gym so been hitting the treadmill. so so far this week iv run:
1.5 miles in 14 mins
3 kms in 17 mins
2 miles in 18 mins 49 secs
Id like to know if this is a good start or not?Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -

Its a start, so it must be good!:D:D
But, yes, if you run 3 times in a week without too much discomfort you're in pretty good shape.
What do you want to achieve or have you no idea yet?
9 min miles from a standing start is a very good level of basic fitness!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Welcome JJ!
Wow I wish I had been that fast when I started, in fact thats how fast I run now...
Are you enjoying it yet? I found it took a while to get into the 'thing' of running, but once I did it was amazing0 -

Hullo all and sundry!
I used to post on this thread (probably a year or so ago now  ) but am wanting to get back into running. Back then i did a couple of 10Ks in approx 65mins.
I think i am fitter now than i was then, i have been doing military fitness training classes 2-3 times a week for the last few months.
Anyway - i just wanted to say 'hi' and rejoin the thread. All encouragement welcome lol.
I am going to go for my first run tonight (assuming i can get my !!!! out of the door!). Any ideas what i should aim for? Or maybe i should just do as much as I can and see where the 'base line' lays.
Happy running everyone0
