I'm starting a campaign of revenge on pedestrians as of now. My line is going to be "Would it really hurt you to say thanks for me moving into the road to avoid you having to do so?". I intend, particularly, to focus on those with young children, adding the words "what kind of example are you setting with your rudeness?". I just hate people who're so self important they don't feel the need to acknowledge you putting yourself out (and risking getting run over) for them.

Anyway, ranting aside ;), the "targetting" other people thing is great when you're the one chasing, not great when you're being chased...I'm a man..I *hate* people overtaking me, so will always match the pace of anyone trying to go past...which is annoying, because invariably they're halfway round their sprint round the block, I'm halfway round my 10k, half marathon etc...it hurts me a lot more than it hurts them - my pride'll be the death of me :)

Idio - how do you have time to say all that whilst running past though? I find a rather large 'huff' usually does the trick :D

HAHAHA - that applies to me also I'm afraid...I have to litterally tell myself - they are just on short runs - do not disrupt your training to chase them...

MM2 are you training for something in particular or just to keep fit? Sorry I'm very nosey today...(or everyday in fact :D).[/quote]

Again no problem at all, be as nosey as you want:p Not training for anything, just running to keep fit and stay the same size (I'm vain....lol:lol just pass the big 40 mark and was finding waist line getting slightly thicker). Although have always done some sort of exercise or other be, so was relatively fit before taking up outdoor running.

To be honest I really do not have any inclination to do races!....maybe when I hit 50:p

I don't stop for much (hence nearly being run over by some old geezer today..), but I'm beginning to think it's worth stopping just to tear some of these ignorants down a little :) If nothing else, I'm the biggest girl in the world, so will be terrified the whole time I'm doing it - and will double my heart rate / adrenalin in the process - which will probably help with my training overall :D

Hey MM2, ............... Oh I've been thinking for a while there are a few of us in London - we should sign up for some hashing together...:D

Did someone say something about London runners? :D I'm here and available - :j

I had to do 5 miles in 57 mins at lunchtime, but I did it in 48mins and some seconds - supposed to be a SLOW run Poorbabe! (Garmin is in my locker downstairs). Like M2, I tend to start off too fast then slow down on the return journey. Today, however, I managed to make myself run according to my breathing: if I was struggling to breathe I was running too fast - not rocket science is it really? . I also remembered to swing my arms a little more than their usual stationary position and that helped too.

My route was Borough Market (can't remember the name of that road for the life of me) down to Blackfriars Bridge, over the bridge and long the river to Charing Cross/Embankment and across to where the Changing of the Guards bit is into Green Park and back - wouldn't think I was a born-and bred Londoner would you? :D

Not a bad route though. First time I'd done it as I tend to follow the river to Vauxhall and back dodging tourists/school holiday families en route  . Need to do 9 miles in 90 mins tomorrow evening. Not look forward to night running, so I'll have to have a major reward prepared as an incentive :rotfl:

Happy running everyone. Glad to see we all making progress :T

I have to say that my pet running peeve is drivers with their lights on main beam at night not dipping them and blinding me! especially when it is a dark night and has taken a while to get my night vision together. if i could rip their mirrors off as they drive past bathed in light like an angel of god i quite merrily would do! grrrr..

    Weds19/11 10K 49:56 (Pulse 122)

Well, it seems like a nice friendly place in here again!!:D:D

And since we now seem to have some self-confessed data anoraks, it seems worth posting again.

Well, well, well...am I buzzing? Several things are coming together at the same time. Yesterdays interval session was the best yet, following 7:27 and 7:06 averages in previous sessions 6:56 was another nice chunk of progress. Very similar to Chickadee's progress I might add doing similar work.

But following that with a sub 50 min 10K was a surprise to say the least (Previous best 52:30). 49:56 is enough to worry Idiophreak that a fat, old man could actually catch him if he doesn't find another gear!:p Btw Idio, with the standard of football you displayed last night you might be getting a call up for Huddersfield Town!

So, the next target is the first race in over 3 years on Saturday - The Leeds Hyde Park 5K with an aim of dipping under 23:20....I cant wait!
    Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
    Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
    Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

Carry one of those ultrabright LED torches with you - a couple of seconds pointed at their face and they'll dip their lights ;) (not sure, however, that's strictly legal advice :))

Oh booger off! Why won't you just let me be! I don't wanna run faster! I've only got little legs! WAAAAGH!

Not sure about my footy skillz, though...the way the england squad are dropping out, I figure there are about three more need to go before I'm in with a shot :D
