    Hi 30,

It will probably take a while for the improvements to bed down anyway, but it looks like you're doing really well. :)

I find it really hard to conceptualise pace in km...is that just me??

Nope...pace/speed/distance...anything in KM throws me completely.

The treadmill on saturday was in KM...took me about 5 minutes to work out what pace I wanted to be running at, how far I wanted to go etc :)

I know what you guys mean, it is tricky getting my head round it, but the run I'm doing next year is in KM so I thought I'd best get learning :)

    Hi Becky-rtw,

No problem, I run 5k three times a week (M, W, T). This is from work (City of London, Cheapside to Westminster bridge and back. I find the going good, on my return sometimes difficult, but I think only because outbound I generally run quicker so get a little stiff on the home leg! hope this makes sense.

    Hey MM2,

Thats a pretty good running route :D, although I'd hate the tourists in the daytime! I used to do vauxhall bridge to blackfriars and back in the mornings before work...its so lovely and flat and there are loads of other runners too.

Thats a great time then for the distance (has to concentrate hard to convert 5K to miles LOL)!

Oh I've been thinking for a while there are a few of us in London - we should sign up for some hashing together...:D

    Hi Becky-rtw,

I generally run on my own with my ipod for company. Really enjoy running in the City, but agree about the tourists, they can be a pain, but they are helping to keep the economy going one guess!

Today was an excellent day for running by the rain and I totally enjoyed it! It does make my heart glad to see other city runners out and about and trying to keep fit. I sometimes mark a person ahead and try to catch up with or pass them, good sense of achievement when I do that....sad I know!!!

Pah! I just wish they would move when I say 'excuse me'

I do that too - I love it, sometimes on slow runs I even do that with walkers (how sad is that :p)...I like to think of it helping my training and bringing out my competative side which I will need if I'm going to hit my target time for the marathon!

MM2 are you training for something in particular or just to keep fit? Sorry I'm very nosey today...(or everyday in fact :D).

I'm starting a campaign of revenge on pedestrians as of now. My line is going to be "Would it really hurt you to say thanks for me moving into the road to avoid you having to do so?". I intend, particularly, to focus on those with young children, adding the words "what kind of example are you setting with your rudeness?". I just hate people who're so self important they don't feel the need to acknowledge you putting yourself out (and risking getting run over) for them.

Anyway, ranting aside ;), the "targetting" other people thing is great when you're the one chasing, not great when you're being chased...I'm a man..I *hate* people overtaking me, so will always match the pace of anyone trying to go past...which is annoying, because invariably they're halfway round their sprint round the block, I'm halfway round my 10k, half marathon etc...it hurts me a lot more than it hurts them - my pride'll be the death of me :)
