I did not get on with running second-time-around. I am swimming instead, but re-joining my gym with intent of using treadmills. I used to be a bit anti-treadmill as it is not like 'real' running - surfaces and inclines etc - but it has greater appeal now. Maybe my age, I never used to mind being out at night - probably because I could run away :rotfl:
I am hoping the swimming will increase my stamina. Trouble is a hot chocolate is sooo rewarding afterwards
Hot choccie - surely its chips after swiming!0 -
Afternoon,
Just done a 7 mile run (Think it was 7.1 on mapmyrun). 1:01:47.
Some nasty little hills in that too, poor calf muscles.
Am enjoying this running now. Thanks for the training plans and advice on walking Richoneday. Very helpful and reeping the rewards now.
Hold on a minute are you getting faster than idio!?!0 -
Please don't talk about chips....am doing steak for tea tonight and DD and DH are having chips. I am restraining and having vegI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

If you want to set yourself targets, set them relative to your own performance, not anyone else's. (don't get me wrong...there's *no way* I'm letting roddy's pace overtake mine
)
Finally, this is just my personal take on things (and no offence to my "fellow" elites), but I prefer hearing about people's achievements when they're starting out, tbh. I remember how rewarding it was the first time I ran, the first time I ran 5k etc. So whilst I'll see (for instance) a 5 minute run as a small achievement for me, I've been there and I'll certainly realise the achievement it represents for you and be suitably delighted.
Thanks for that Idio
As I said in my first post, any embarrassment I have about my level of fitness is MY issue, not any reflection on you lovely lot. To be honest, I'm not competitive in the slightest, apart from when playing Monopoly
OMG, who mentioned chips :eek:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Come on guys,
I am upset that my original post has caused all this ............
This was my problem no one Else's
But this is one of the best places to come, you ALL contribute an awful lot and Must all come back, Maz, Rich, your too valuable to lose and in no way did I wish this to happen.
I came back and continued to post, YOU can't let the fun that goes on here stop, it's a pity the last two/three pages can't be forgotten and forgiven.
Come back everyone, talk about running/walking/breathing/fun
Come on guys, you know you love it here
I've been walking, not far and for the next 3 days, wont be doing much except walk around the airport/plane, but will try to do some in Oz, as long as I don't get lost. I have trouble with the map u run or what ever it is, so wont know how far I go over there, but there you go!
Guys, I'm waving a white flag, where are you please.

Just a quickie to say that I finally managed to do my 30 minute 5k!

HWGA I use realbuzz.com and then go to "map my passion" on there - it is pretty accurate and dead easy to use - give it a go!
evab well done on the 4 miles :T
I did 6 miles while DS was in karate........in 66 mins, so that is 11 mins a mile. At least I know I am consistent!
At 11 mins a mile, I overtake the walkers en route. I have even overtaken a cyclist (going up hill, but nevertheless I was quicker on that stretch) and a couple of power walkers.
But today I reached a new level.......
.......It was rush hour and I was running round the ring road, so, forget walkers, and cyclists.....I was overtaking CARS:T
Gave me a real little glow of satisfaction for a few mins :rotfl:
tomorrow I have a rest day.......although I have to mystery shop a gym :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
