Thats great to hear Spud! :T We all go through the early stages of being embarassed about running, whether it be in real life or on a forum like this. I heard one story about a woman trying to lose a *lot* of weight who went running and pretended to be running for a bus until she could run much further. She was embarrassed that people would look at her and think she shouldn't be running because she was to big to do it. (Edit: NOT on this forum by the way!)

Even now, when I am used to running on the roads, I still get shouts from groups of kids. When I run with my ladies group, the number of drivers who wind down their windows to shout *encouragement* beggars belief!

Please keep it up, we want to hear how you get on and I'm sure you'll be bitten by the running bug very soon (if it hasn't already got you). ;)

    Thanks Chick

It wasnt so much embarrassment about running, although there is that....it was more the quantity, or lack of that prevented me posting :o

Bus routes mean main roads . I work with kids, so could do it with them if I could just manage to get a bit blimmin further :D
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

    Afternoon,

Just done a 7 mile run (Think it was 7.1 on mapmyrun). 1:01:47.

Some nasty little hills in that too, poor calf muscles.

Am enjoying this running now. Thanks for the training plans and advice on walking Richoneday. Very helpful and reeping the rewards now.

That's some pace, Hobsch...did you feel like you were pushing, or did you have something left in the tank?

I ran to deliver an invoice to a company so going I felt a bit tired and I had to stop for about 3 or 4 minutes when I got there. Coming back after about 10 mins I felt good again and although I wasnt checking time I did sneak a look and tried to get back before the hour mark but missed out. I think I could have carried on a bit longer but didnt want to overdo it.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again...Nobody's in competition on this thread and nobody should feel their achievements are any less important than anyone else's. If you want to set yourself targets, set them relative to your own performance, not anyone else's. (don't get me wrong...there's *no way* I'm letting roddy's pace overtake mine ;))

Finally, this is just my personal take on things (and no offence to my "fellow" elites ;)), but I prefer hearing about people's achievements when they're starting out, tbh. I remember how rewarding it was the first time I ran, the first time I ran 5k etc. So whilst I'll see (for instance) a 5 minute run as a small achievement for me, I've been there and I'll certainly realise the achievement it represents for you and be suitably delighted. :)

I am still procrastinating......everywhere you go in life people have little fall outs......especially it seems us women.....:o

I would hate anywhere on here to be seen as a 'clique' - i would just say to anyone who is a first time poster not to give up if you don't get answered right away. I sometimes feel bad that I have just posted and run:rotfl: pardon the pun....but time is ususally pressing.

Right I am home and enough is enough. Lets move on and get back to the running. I don't want this to be discussed again, life is too short....
