Hi all!
Well done BA thats a fantastic run, I couldn't hope to be anyway near the front in any race! Excellent.
I've been out to do 4 miles this evening did the same route as yesterday and somehow managed to do it a couple of minutes quicker, still 42 mins but can feel the progress again.
Hill work tomorrow, there's a huge hill at the back of Prestatyn that leads up to a great viewing point I'm aiming to see how far I can get without collapsing.
Bl**dy seagulls out again tonight, can't stand them think I might have to run with one of those umbrella hats on so I can't be attacked or pooped on. Nah I won't look silly :rotfl:
Well done SW thats a good run!

If there are any joggers/runners here from the gateshead/newcastle area check out this site www.mychampionchip.com
You can get a chip through the post which you can use on the Gateshead/Newcastle riverside. Basically there is a 1 mile route, at the start/finish line there is a chip reader and your name appears in lights on a big LED board as you cross the start, you then do your mile lap and your time appears on the board as you cross the finish line. The first 400 chips are free0 -
that sounds like a great facility, shame I live too far away!!0

Hi all, did hill work yesterday so enjoying a nice rest today tomorrow will do 4 miles again.
Walked with DD to and from childminder today it's about 1/2 a mile away with a hill and we have done it loads of times, she loves running up the hill. They all think we're mad as she's 2 1/2 but I don't think it's that far to walk?! anyway no petrol until Friday so needs must but feel that it's silly and costly for such a short distance. DD wants to run like mummy and daddy so getting trained early.
Hope everyone else ok x0 -

Hi All
Been dipping in and out of this thread and wanted to say a very Well Done to all who are achieving their running goals etc.
I do really, really fancy running myself. Years ago me and a friend started jogging and I loved that 'high' it used to give me after a good session. However, that WAS years and years ago
I'd love to learn to run again and this week have started the very basic run one min, then walk 3 mins plan that someone posted somewhere. I do have a massive block tho' and that is *embarrassment*. I don't know why but I just cannot get over my self-consciousness and can't bring myself to run outside. The plan I've done so far has been inside - running round my house and front room
I don't know why I feel like this as when I see someone running, I am full of admiration for them but I just think I would look ridulous, especially starting off so unfit. There are also a lot of 'hoodies' around my immediate area and I don't get on that well with neighbours so I would feel very self-conscious if they saw me attempting to run. How do others get over thisAm I the only one who feels this is a massive hurdle to overcome ?

HI Debby
I can relate to this. I too am very embarrassed for the neighbours to see me running so I walk a few streets away before I start running.
I also joined a beginners group at my local running club, we run around a rugby pitch rather than out in the streets, and I don't feel self-conscious there as everyone is a beginner.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Thanks Seaxwyn - that's what I had thought of doing too so will see how I get on today. I really must get over this stupid embarrassment, I do feel silly for letting it get in the way. The beginners group sounds like a great idea - I would love to join something like that. I did have a quick search for groups like that in my area a few weeks ago, but could'nt find anything but I will try again. Thanks for the encouragement. Just one more question - do you find that there is a 'quieter' time to go running i.e. when there are less kids/people around ?0 -
Hi all, and welcome along Debby :hello: I know what you mean about running outside, I've only fairly recently started doing that as opposed to going on the treadmill, and I did find it a bit nervewracking at first.. it does get better once you've been out a couple of times though, there's so many people doing it that I'm sure nobody really notices! I'm a bit restricted when it comes to times - sometimes go early morning when it's mostly other runners about round here, and sometimes after work which avoids the school kids but is still quite a busy time, I try to stick to quiet-ish streets but not too quiet.
Sorry for the lack of input this week, I've been out twice, Tues and Thurs, about three miles each (got soaked on Thursday). Lovely day today but hangover is dictating that I stay on the sofa... will hopefully get out again tomorrow.
Hope you've all had a good week!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Don't worry about others most of them are just jealous! Unfortunately there are always those who make comments but to be honest I don't even acknowledge them, they have no influence on my life so they can just s*d off. My DH gets beeped at by white van men, don't know whether thats funny or just odd!
No runs for me for a couple of days DH (not really darling at mo), my 2 brothers and dad decided that all yesterday afternoon and today they're off drinking and playing snooker. Apparently they think DH is under the thumb. Ha, we have always been independent and just checked that we not out too often (I haven't been out with friends since March). Nevermind that they don't have any responsibilities i.e. no kids, 1 brother in army, dad retired. Am seriously !!!!ed off with them today.
DH spent £40 last night and bound to again today, am getting fed up of my trying to be careful and him just blowing it.
Sorry to rant on and not even about running, hopefully will get out for 4 miler tomorrow might just go early so he has to look after DD that would be good for a hangover:rotfl:0
