    Afternoon all :hello:

Debby - good luck with the cycling - I think if you've found something you're comfortable with then go for it! And as you say you can have a go at the running again once you've been out on the bike more.

    P - that's a good idea about the t-shirts

Evab - hope you feel better soon, I feel like I'm coughing up bits of lung today so I can sympathise!! Blaaaaah....

    Hi all

I am currently on week 9 of "Running Made Easy" programme. Run 3 mins walk 2 mins. I gave up smoking 6 weeks ago and replaced it with running. When I look on Runners World website their beginners programme says on week 6 I should be running for 12 mins walk 1 min  Week 7 run 15 mins walk 1 min :eek:. I don't know which one I should follow. I am comfortable with "Running Made Easy" but feel I could push myself more.

Any advise would be great. Oh and are Heart Monitors worth it? :D
Life is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what yer gonna get ;);)

Its really up to you how you feel, when I first started I went with gut instinct and didnt follow any manuals, but they are helpful if you have never run before. Once you get started you can stop the manuals when you want and run at the pace you feel comfortable and then gradually build up the distance.

Ran 3-4 miles last night, wasnt going to but had spare time, running wedneday at club, 6-8 miles hopefully

Hi all, hope your week is going well. My cold has got worse so I haven't been out, had to come home from work today and have been asleep on sofa for the last couple of hours.. hmmph :( On the positive side, all the coughing seems to be giving my stomach muscles a good workout :p

  • Hi all, sorry i haven't been around for ages.

Running has had to take a back seat as i fell while running in the woods a couple of weeks ago and twisted my knee

I rested it for 10 days and thought it was getting better. But went to center parcs this weekend and after a couple of days cycling just puttin pressure on it to push the pedals was painful.Had to leave the bike in the lodge and walk (well limp) around for the last couple of days.

So it looks like running is out for a while longer.

I've never been injured before - any tips? should i see a doctor? i'm more a kind of 'wait and see if it gets better' kind of person but not being able to excersise is going to annoy me very quickly!

Ahhh take your time getting back into running but I hope your knee is better soon

I have a sore throat at the mo, hurts to swallow and it generally not nice. Might have to get some ice cream to soothe it. Well thats my excuse! No runs again boo hoo

Feeling rotten today staying at home as can't concentrate on work and therefore has saved me some petrol today! Think I'm just going to veg in front of the television if I can find a decent program.

Hope to be better by the weekend.

Hope you're feeling better today RS

  • Think we all need :grouphug: today. Everyone who is poorly needs to get some hot ribena/vimto, biscuits, duvet and curl up in front of a nice film on TV. Come to think of it that sounds nice even if you're not ill :D

I have been running but forgot to post on here, , sorry!

Went on Tues night with friend and did 5 miles and then went to Pilates for a lovely stretch. Was that tired nearly fell asleep mid stretch

Was going to go tonight but DH has arranged to play golf, his argument is he is away for 2 weeks and won't be able to go, my argument is that he is away for 2 weeks so I will struggle to fit running in

Have entered a 10km fun run in our town which is the week before the North Run - which is less than 2 months away now - yikes

Ok maybe I will have to run tonight after all...........................
