Welcome back P! I'm not sure who is due the wine - it's definitely not me!!

Woke up with a sore throat and cough this morning, thought I'd attempt to run but ended up wheezing a bit, so it was more of a jog/ walk. Really unimpressed! My voice is starting to go now which will be great fun at work tomorrow

Hope you feel better soon cnoelj.. when is the LM? If I was you I would enter, if something stops you doing it, it'll be a real shame, but I think it'd be worse to not enter and regret it when it comes to the time.

Debby, did you get out in the streets yet?

Hope you've all had a good weekend x

:hello: everyone, I am sneaking back in. I have had a few runs this week and have been doing Pilates and the gym once a week so it all seems to be working out quite nicely :j

Re feeling embarrassed running. can you grab some music and run to music, makes you ignore what is going on around you and you kind of just get absorbed in your own world. Once you're a few streets from home you might feel more comfortable as well.

I really want to enter into the London Marathon, where do you get the application form from?

Off for a run tomorrow as I have over indulged way too much this weekend and need to run it off!

Welcome back BA :hello: Good tip about the music - you just have to be careful you don't pick anything too fast or it can get a bit manic :rotfl:

Must admit I'm tempted to apply for the LM too and join you all, but I really can't picture myself being fit enough even that many months away - I might come and wave from the sidelines :D

There is a magazine with it in (Marathon News)

You can pick one up for free at most big sports shops eg JB Sports or from a local running club

As I have run it before I get one sent automatically

Hi Redsquirrel - Thanks for the mention :). I did attempt to get out yesterday but found myself walking along and really, really willing myself to break into a jog, but it seemed that everytime I was going to jog, a group of kids would appear or I'd pass a neighbour etc. I'm afraid I gave up and felt very disappointed with myself. This self-conciousness is a HUGE thing for me and I just couldn't do it :( However - I have decided that I will NOT give up totally but I am switching to biking as exercise instead. I am perfectly happy on a bike and already cycle to work etc so I think that I will set myself some cycling goals and maybe when I get fitter and more confident, I can try the running thing again. Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and good luck with your goals. Not that I'm going anywhere - I will be lurking and hopefully posting my cycling goals now and again ;)

Debby don't worry, when I first started I was self-conscious too especially around young kids but once you've been out a while whether it's walking cycling or whatever and built up a bit of confidence try again. They don't know how far you've done so chin up it will come.

Can't remember if anyone suggested (suffering from headache, sorethroat and earache this morning so can't even remember if fed the fish!) but is there a friend you can running with or a local club? This will definitely build up your confidence.

    Take care Ev x

Hi all, have been really lapse recently. I am definately applying for the LM, either through usual route or charities. Was a right grumpy !!! last year listening to it all on the news and not being there!
Maybe all of us DFWRC'ers that get in should meet up at some point either beginning or end as moral support. Am going to PM Martin to see if he will help us out with t-shirts or something, good publicity!!

DFW t-shirts, can us supporters have one to wear & wave you on??
