Hi All,
following some great advice in here I have just signed up for the Bupa London 10000 race, I'm really looking forward to it. Its gonna be a hard slog for me to get in shape for it though.
Are there any other people here doing it/did it last year? Any advice on what to expect? I've never run in a race before and have never run 10k before eitherso I'm nervous but really excited too.

30 if you go on the the runners world website it should tell you what sort of course it is plus you can see comments of other runners (not sure if you have to subcribe to see the page)
I filled in my application for Llandudno 10km, a bit scared to see 'Great Orme scenic route' on it - that means hills!!!!0 -
Hey Poor,
What a great run! Wow you must be getting so excited now - gosh is it two weeks now??
Are you feeling good for the target time?
Becky0 -
Poor that is a great time and well done you for having the right frame of mind to push yourself to keep going. This is definitately my downfall!
Maz/Snaggles I do agree with you on new runners finding it a bit daunting when they come over. Do you remember when we joined and there were people like Chris, JB, Southwester who has just done the marathon and loads of other that were regular runners. I never thought I would be up to that standard (still not so sure I will be) but we all have to start somewhere so have to make those newbies feel welcome.
Well done everyone else for runs today. Becky never mind about your run today. I did think when I stopped at 8.5 miles bet becky is going strong still and already finished:p Hey we both had indifferent days today
30dirty I did look at the london 10000 but thats as far as I got:o
Loving your pic from today Maz, I also thought about taking one from the top of one of the hills I ran today but I was so puffed out and just wanting to get on I didn't bother. Next Sunday I will get a nice shot to share with you all
God Ive waffled.I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Thanks Sally - I know I'm not well now so at least I didnt push it and I have another rest day tomorrow to be back on top form by Tuesday!
congrats on the 8.5 today - its great to hear you're getting back into it from your bad knee because it was clear you were getting frustrated before!
I think for me it can be difficult to see the long term goal of the marathon so I set goals every week but then I become frustrated when I dont make it - but when I'm standing on the starting line in April todays run isnt going to make one iota of difference
I disagree about the runners being off putting for beginners though - when I first posted here I was very much a beginner having only started a month or two previously and having all these experienced runners around was so inspiring and filled me with confidence about both the advice they gave and the progress I could make. Guess I'm trying to say thanks for all the support guys - oh look at me got a cold and gone all mushy!
See you all tomorrow when I'm rested and refreshed0 -
Oh yeah - well done on another great long run Rich - not quite at my 1.25 though...0

I know - I was trying to sneak in under the wire while you were otherwise occupied on the '12', but missed. So you still hold the upper hand, but I'm after you!:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
