Thanks Sally - it's actually not been that bad here, we have had sun all day, and more importantly, not a great deal of that horrible icy wind that triggers my asthma. But it's starting to look distinctly wintery out there now.

Got to keep running though - it's my first night out as a single woman on Friday :o so got to look my best!

Edit - thanks Squizz too :)

You're right Snaggles - I've just been out. It just felt a bit chilly for the first half mile or so but because its so still, soon warmed up. Still shorts weather for we northerners!:p

Bad knee still :( need to get to Dr's. Half term no childcare so no running for me at the moment and schedule out the window

    Sally,

The schedule isn't out of the window at all.

The training plan is written in such a way that you could lose 20% of the overall training volume and still be well on track. It is assumed there will be some downtime and lost sessions during a 6 month period.

The chances are that when you go to the docs you will get told to rest it - its almost certainly the right answer.

But rest is relative - I would always walk instead of doing nothing as long as the knee doesn't feel uncomfortable.

Um yes it does feel uncomfortable unfortunately. It hurts even when I am sat down and extend it so am pretty certain its muscular around the joint as its not the joint itself that hurts. What was it that someone said to take/eat that helps with the repair of muscle?
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

If it is muscular it should heal given time - there isn't a lot you can do to speed it up, but proteins are the building blocks for muscle repair so meat and fish I suppose!

Can you remember twisting your knee awkwardly at any point? Or does it feel like a result of all the regular pounding?

If my shorts are sort of calf length, I can still class myself as a tough northerner, yes? ;)

I'm a bit late checking in today but I did my easy 4 miles this morning. The route I chose is actually 4.5 miles and I did it in 42 mins. To be honest, it didn't feel *easy* as my legs still felt heavy from Monday's intervals. I found that I had to keep slowing myself down because I was a bit chilly and naturally wanted to run a bit quicker to stay warmed up.

A lovely hot shower was the answer though. I treated myself to my new pampering shower gel, I think I deserved it!

Rich you made me laugh with your shorts comment. My OH is a Yorkshireman and it has to be well below freezing before he runs in leggings :rotfl: . They breed 'em tough up here eh?

I know how your legs felt thats for sure - its a nice feeling having those achey thighs, you know there's some improvement on the way.

Hehe I find that as long as I have a long sleeved top and hands covered, running in shorts is not really a problem. -10 might change that view though :p.
At the end of the day footballers play in shorts in sub zero temperatures and they do a lot of standing around!

But you're right - they breed 'em tough north of Watford Gap!

I'm a serious southern softie and proud! I'm already wearing three tops when running and double layered trousers! Where I come from they grow palm trees outside...

I got my FLM stuff today in the post - ooooo exciting :)
