Absolutely not! I loved it. It wasn't easy, but I guess this will be the session that contributes most to my speed improvement so I didn't expect it to be.
I'm sitting here now with that 'big lungs' feeling, so I'm very happy. Does anyone else get that or am I just weird? Maybe you just refer to it as an endorphin high, but when I have run hard, it seems to blow the cobwebs away and I really feel like I breathe better.
Rest day tomorrow, then an easy run Wednesday.
By the way, I have added a second sheet to my training plan to record my actual times for each of the sessions and notes of the route, etc. Am feeling very organised.
Yep, the whole body feels invigorated after one of these sessions. And it is these sessions which teach you to run more slowly on your easier days as well.
Your times will come down - I absolutely guarantee it. If you do the sessions your times will improve and you know the targets to get sub 50-00.
Just to put in to perspective, Helen Clitheroe will be doing pretty much the same session at some point during the week and her times will average around 5-20 and she can do 10K in 32:20. That might sound like a lot of difference, but just watch how the difference between you and an Olympic athlete shrinks pretty significantly over the next few weeks!!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Went off on our 5 mile walk this afternoon. Half way round and mud everywhere! Turns out there was a forager working on maize in one of the fields and the tractors to and fro with all the cut maize. The mess was unbelievable. Never mind, half as far today as the other way just isn't the same, but 1/2's better than none so mustn't be too peeved.

Morning all,
Sorry for th no show last night - got a new hobby (ahem) knitting...anyway...
Did my fartlek 4 miles this morning - phew I pushed it hard, but managed 36 mins (including traffic light stops but I tried to build them into my slow 25%), but I know I can do better next week - there was one middle section where my pace settled back into about 8.30 rather than pushing so the target next week is not to slip into that and keep pushing for 35 mins!
Wow good runs everyone - sorry abut your troubles Sue! Sounds a bit difficult to run in.
Ooo Pania - I love Thetford! Its great...very lovely at this time of year too. Got my xmas tree from there last year
Have a great day everyone!0 -
i'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
3 and 1/2 hour walk on Sat....1 hour on Sunday and an hour today.
And Chris did whip my butt for me
And you enjoyed it!
Well done everyone.
I will be running home from work later .....at 1.15am!“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
I am assuming the roads will be pretty quiet at that time, Chris. Be careful anyway!
I am hoping to be tucked up in my duvet fast asleep by that stage.........:D
My calves don't ache as much as I expected following my hills yesterday. I will therefore try and get a few miles in with P this evening.

And we just thought you'd got the needle with us!
Another good workout by the sounds of it. The fact that you're wanting to push it a little more means your body is getting used to doing these, and even starting to enjoy them.
What was the temp when you went out this morning ?- its still all white here.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Nicely done Idio.
I think your 10K race time will be dropping a little the next time you race after doing times like this in training.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

No frost here but its freezing - I had to run fast to keep warm...all I could think of while walking into work today was 'where did I put those earmuffs??'0
