Yep I'm looking forward to the clocks changing - an extra hour in bed and extra running time in the morning - I can stop nearly tripping over those 'princess diana walk' things that are everywhere...
Its only 8 weeks before it starts getting lighter again and then summer is on the way!!!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks...not sure I would be able to keep that pace up over a marathon though...hey months of training still to go.
Sally, you have improved your steady state speed by 37 secs/mile - that feeds through to all distances - its not a case of keeping that particular speed up for a marathon.
If you improve your 10K time, you improve your 10mile, 1/2 marathon and marathon times as long as the appropriate slow, distance work is being done alongside.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

That's a really cheering thought actually, thanks
Anyway, I just got back from a run - went out with some of the guys at work..normally it's a mix of boys and girls go, whereas the girls were off today, so went out a bit harder than usual.
Did 7 miles (around 4 offroad) in 59 mins, which doesn't seem to be *great* to me, but am gonna check how this fits in with previous efforts around this distance.
Certainly felt like I was pushing myself, so it can't have been bad for me...0 -

Just checked and the last time I did a similar route to this (I did the same route, but a little offroad at the end instead - 7.1miles) was at the end of august - and I did it in 1:06 - so 7 minutes off is a fair chunk I reckon, quite pleased.0 -

Great improvement if, as you say, they were done at comparable efforts.
You will, no doubt, have got quite a buzz from that one.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi all, didn't get out last night as weather was terrible so off out tonight for 3 miles instead.
I can't stand having this weight on and feel healthy so time to up the runs a little bit. I'll probably do a couple more weeks just runs then build in some hill work and speed sessions once a week.
Well done as always to everyone, great team spirit on here!0 -

Well I actually went out there for a lunchtime run. Weather wasn't too bad and not that many tourists/half term crowd blocking my path either, although I deliberately avoided the London Eye for that reason
I did push myself a little........... maybe a little too much as I had to use my inhaler twice, however I felt comfortable outside of those instances and, to my amazement, I managed to do 6 miles in 53:54 which works out to 8.55 pace
Oh my word, I nearly keeled over when I saw the time and was convinced my Garmin was wrong :rotfl: :rotfl: but managed to stay upright and slowly jogged back to the office. It wasn't until I was in the shower that I remember I was supposed to run that distance in 70 mins as per my training schedule. Oh well
Rich, are you sure it's 8 weeks because it always seems a lot longer to me  Then again, I'm one of those SAD people so my darkness starts in September and ends round about March/April, which is why I try to go overseas every other winter til I'm debt-free when I'll be able to go every winter  :TThe 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025.
