after reading all the talk of pacing and fartlek etc.. this is me....

    5k pace=11 minute mile...
    10K pace = 11 minute mile
marathon pace = 11 minute mile...

A plod? me? naaaah? surely not. my theory is as long as i get round and i feel comfortable then that is fine by me! anything more technical than that and i don't have a clue!! ;)

P, if we can do 11 min miles for the marathon, we will be over the finish line in 4 hours 48 mins.......

    not too bad eh!!

    Morning All
6 Mile run for me this morning 57:11 so pleased with that although I was going harder than easy pace..sorry Rich!

At least there is some progress on the friday runs which I always seem to run at roughly the same pace (not easy but not full pelt) the last 4 have been

    3.6 miles 35.51 9.57m/m
    6.0 miles 1.00:44 10.07 m/m
    6.0 miles 58.43 9.43 m/m
    6.0 miles 57.11 9.30m/m

    All good coach Rich.

Nice progress Sally as long as they are roughly equal efforts, which it sounds like they are.

In essence, the training effect has taken about 14 minutes off your marathon time in 2 weeks, so there is no need to push any harder.

    Well done.

    Hi everyone

Becky, you still amaze me with the morning runs  :T

I woke up this morning and whilst getting ready for work realised this time next week it will be pitch black in the mornings when I head out - oh joy! :(

Yesterday I was supposed to do hills with the club but ended up staying home snuggled under a warm fleece on the sofa :D . I was feeling very tired and had struggled home on the bike, the wind didn't make it any easier at times and I was a little scared. I'm sure I ended up walking half the distance home just to rest my legs.

This morning I packed my bag with my running gear as I intend to do a 6 mile run at lunchtime. Hopefully 2 non-running days will translate into a brisk run, but we'll see.

Am away visiting friends this weekend so lots of walking around the shops, drinking and chatting/laughing :T . I'll have to do a 'sort-of' long but easy run on Monday as it's club speedwork the following evening.

    Happy running/walking everyone :A

Wow, when you put it like that that really is a big impact. Hope I can be showing the same kind of improvement in a few weeks.

    Way to go Sally!

Not so, the clocks are changing this weekend so it will be light in the morning. At least for a few weeks until darkness creeps in again.

Yep I'm looking forward to the clocks changing - an extra hour in bed and extra running time in the morning - I can stop nearly tripping over those 'princess diana walk' things that are everywhere...

im too looking forward to that bit of extra light on sunday morning...running around a playing field in the pitch dark was precarious last weekend

That is the one good thing about shift work. You have more options on the times of day you can run. I have been running this morning in a couple of parks which I wouldn't be able to do during the week at this time of year if I was working 9-5

Thanks...not sure I would be able to keep that pace up over a marathon though...hey months of training still to go.
