Thanks coach - knew there would be a sensible explanation...

I do get hunger pangs though about an hour after running, but a small snack like raisins or a banana and they go away - thats okay right? I'm not training at too high an intensity?

Ooo Sally get you - nice time!

Oh Dam I was only supposed to run 4 miles this morning. That will teach me not to double check my training plan...oh well 2 extra miles in the bank!

Morning Crazy bunch...Nice to log on and see everyone has been busy. Becky you get up far too early..saying that I was at Tesco at 6am this morning doing the weekly shop so that I could get back at get my run in.
So feeling rather pleased...6 miles easyish pace...58.23 (9.43m/m) compared to last week of 1.00.47 (10.07 m/m) :T . Tell you it was so COLD this morning and had to double layer and didn't even get hot...think I will be investing in some more long sleeve tops to run in (getting expensive this running malarky :rotfl: )

Sounds like you're in the routine now, Sally.

That is about how times would change with equal effort over the space of a week. But because so many other factors can affect a time it isnt worth worrying when it doesn't work out that way.

And it sounds like you are keeping the motivation going, being able to get out in the cold and to get up at that time to get chores out of the way!

Every run gets you a little closer to the goal!

You don't have any fat you need to burn Becky so it doesn't matter surely?

I wasn't worrying about the time (most of the time) but can definatley feel my stride is more runner like than bumbling along stride it was not so long ago! :rotfl:

Now just need to keep an eye on the diet...I think I probably am working too hard as I am hungry (not when I get back but later in the day) think I need to get in some more walking to burn calories off. So want to shed a stone before LM

Oh I do trust me...and I would love to have those skinny runners legs *sigh*

I'm not one of those size 8 girls...I still have my shape...I'm just naturally small...

You're quite right - but your body doesn't have to do too much transforming, being around what you'd call 'racing weight' already.

The normal day-to-day stuff is still going on so some nutrients are going to be needed, but the idea that you need to eat loads more to fuel the running is usually wrong!

    I hope that makes sense.

It does indeed - good to know, I dont feel I'm training too hard except when I do fartlek, but the idea of these sessions is to push yourself!

Appetite should decrease, and change, quite significantly.

The body is basically taking its cues from the activity that is being thrown at it and decides it better re-shape into a form that resembles something like a runner.

Generally, that means it needs to burn off some fat and since 1lb of fat will fuel 35 miles of running, it can cope with a lot less energy intake while it is going through its transformation.

So, yes, it is perfectly normal. A continual raging appetite means the training is too high intensity and is burning glycogen rather than fat. Glycogen is a scarce resource and therefore needs replacing quickly resulting in hunger pangs.

Hmm, so the AA (and decreasing) is ok then? I'll be glad when this marathon is done I can build up the fat reserves again :rotfl: :rotfl:
