Negril is flat along the coast (there's a 7 mile long beach including the famous 'Hedonism' (if you don't know what it is, you probably don't want to!:p)), so thats a big positive.
I was worried about the heat though but just noticed it goes off at 5-15AM. Wow!
In terms of the training, repeating weeks would be fine as long as you really taper off in the last 10 days.
How long are you in Jamaica before the race? Watch out for the mosquitos - Montego Bay down to Negril is very green and full of swarms of them. Another thing is there's loads of Aloe Vera just growing along the roadside - pick some to soothe your sore bits after the race!
Should be a fantastic experience.
Hi ROD, I'm not too worried about the heat as I would only go as fast as I was comfortable and my aim is to cross the finish line before they open the roads at 1230  . Of course, my training plan has a 4:30 time but I won't aim for that......... maybe..........
Jamaica is family territory and I'll be staying with my brother over in Mobay one week before and two weeks after the race. He lives in a hilly area so that's where my final week of tapering will be done, including lots of my fave Red Stripe as a 'recovery' drink or 3 *ahem*
The mossys and I have an understanding built up over years of visits: as long as I cover up or slather myself in repellent they'll leave me alone, otherwise it's chow time for them :rotfl: As for Hedonism, I've heard a lot about it but would never go there
I'm starting to look forward to my first marathon. Couldn't think of a better place to start and bruv has been tasked to be at the finish line with two cold Red Stripes waiting for me, along with a handsome masseur and a chauffeur to drive me back to my hotel:j (*sigh* - one can but hope!).

So, surely I'm not the only B here! Quite shocked to B honest. Thanks for the Asda £4 & £6 bra tips girls, I'll certainly be trying them.
Another fantastic brisk 5 mile walk today, a perfect day for it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sue
This bra size thing reminds me of the line-up Gok Wan does on his programme where he gets the woman to guess where she fits in size-wise.. :rotfl: (I'm another D by the way).
Becky - clocks go back next weekend, weirdly I've been waking up earlier and earlier over the last few weeks so I can see me running in the morning very soon.. :eek:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Next weekend - ooo does that mean an extra hour in bed - yippee - thats timely for me because the shower at work is broken so I'm doing 6am starts at the moment to get the runs in, the lighter is it the better really!
Thanks Red!0 -
Becky you were out on the road at what time this morning?  I think my alarm went off around 6am so I turned it off and rolled over for an extra 25 mins.
Can 'scrabble' start with a AA or is that not a size (at least, I have problems trying to find anything that tiny in the shops when I occasionally look :rotfl: :rotfl: )
Well I didn't run on Wednesday as my legs ached from the speed session on Tuesday night. Yesterday I did hills but only managed 4. Late last night I had the bright idea of cycling to work today, running 7 miles at lunchtime and cycling home. This morning my legs said to me "try it and we going on strike", so I'm going running when I get home this evening instead
I might have to leave the bike at work and collect it tomorrow or Monday evening to give my legs a chance to rest as I want to have a better 18 mile experience this Sunday
I've been meaning to ask: Has anyone found their appetite overall has decreased since they started training for whatever race they are doing? I used to be able to eat for Britain, Jamaica and Russia a few years ago, but since this year I'm not eating nearly as much as I used to, or should (we'll ignore the fact that I'm probably not eating enough 'right' foods either  )The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Yep you can defo start with AA - it means I'm not the smallest - yeah
(ooo if you have trouble finding stuff in your size Figleaves is very good! And there's a great range for smaller girls by After Eden)
Um I find I get really hungry and then it goes away if I forget to eat (which I do when working or doing stuff!)...I also find I want smaller meals of denser foods more often - I used to eat a lot of salads and soups but if I eat that now it just doesnt hit the spot so I've swapped it out for risotto or potatoes, but my portion size has got a lot smaller (urgh does that make sense?)...
Yesh Poor you are doing a lot - cycling and running! You are seriously mad!0 -

@ Becky
(I am soo hurt by wot u sed)
I understand what you mean re portion sizes. Mine have gotten smaller too and I now tend to eat more of the 'heavy' stuff, so I'm looking forward to the jacket potato, cheese and beans at lunchtime and my takeaway tonight :j :j
Re cycling and running - you right. I probably am mad but I have noticed that my cycling journey now takes me 30 mins in the morning rather than the 40-45mins of a week or so ago. The return journey stays at 40 mins though as my legs need the relaxed pace.
I can't remember who posted the Tchibo link last week, but I just wanted to say my goods arrived on Tuesday (the red/orange fleece top and black bottoms). I wore the top to hills training last night and it did the job. Kept me warm there and back. Haven't worn the bottoms yet but am sure they'll be just as good. The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Morning Crazy bunch...Nice to log on and see everyone has been busy. Becky you get up far too early..saying that I was at Tesco at 6am this morning doing the weekly shop so that I could get back at get my run in.
So feeling rather pleased...6 miles easyish pace...58.23 (9.43m/m) compared to last week of 1.00.47 (10.07 m/m) :T . Tell you it was so COLD this morning and had to double layer and didn't even get hot...think I will be investing in some more long sleeve tops to run in (getting expensive this running malarky :rotfl: )I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Appetite should decrease, and change, quite significantly.
The body is basically taking its cues from the activity that is being thrown at it and decides it better re-shape into a form that resembles something like a runner.
Generally, that means it needs to burn off some fat and since 1lb of fat will fuel 35 miles of running, it can cope with a lot less energy intake while it is going through its transformation.
So, yes, it is perfectly normal. A continual raging appetite means the training is too high intensity and is burning glycogen rather than fat. Glycogen is a scarce resource and therefore needs replacing quickly resulting in hunger pangs.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
