How can you be letting the side down? We all have our ups and downs. I am just starting to bounce back after events in my own life. You just have to accept where you are at the moment - anything else just adds to the pressure. I find that once I allow myself to accept 'what is' the pressure is off and I enjoy my running more.

  • Nobody is letting any side down!!! Just being on here adn considering running puts us all in the top percentage of the country. That's what I always remeber when I am out even if it 'only' a mile or very slow it is a darn site better than nothing, which is what most people do! :T :T :T

    Right rant over! :o

You are absolutely right Poodle, Most people just say "ooh I could never do that" even when they haven't tried. I think that some people imagine that runners are just born like that. They don't know that every one of us started by just running round the block.

  • I agree you are not letting the side down or yourself.
There is nothing worse than running a race when you do not feel right, You only end up feeling worse if you do the race, and end up slower than usuall due to not being 100%

The wymondham 10k is 11am start.

Look after your health and don't worry about anyone else HWGA - hope you feel better soon.

A bit achy today, especially my shoulders as I was very tense whilst running on Tuesday. Went for a long walk with baby yesterday to stretch off and out running again this evening. I going to start Pilates next Tuesday *ponders whether to run to class?*

Soundtrack for today is Kosheen - I have a list of music to put on MP3 but need to sit and do it.

Anyway, whilst I am here and it is still my lunch break, I just thought I would pop in and own up to the fact that I haven't run a step this week. Legs feel great after GNR, with minor stiffness in my muscles but hardly anything worth mentioning.

I would like to go out tonight with the ladies group I sometimes run with, but DS wants to go and buy new football boots, so I may have to go shopping instead. I'll try and get out for a short run even if I have to shop later.

Now I need a new goal. I haven't got into London and have decided that I don't want the stress of training in the immediate run-up to getting married so Edinburgh is out. I printed off a form for a local 10K trail run that is good fun. Last time I did it each trainer was about 3lb heavier than at the start because of the amount of mud on each foot!

I'll have a look at the race listings and see what is about. I have a definite date for the Pudding Run on 14th December (so-called because each finisher gets a Christmas Pud).

Come to think of it, there are a lot of local races about (have just had a look at a website) so I can have some good fun entering local races.

    Right, that's it. I'm definitely going for a run tonight. I'm re-motivated!

It is good to have at least a few days break after a big run. You deserve it! If I want to do anything I am usually up for a gentle swim and a sauna. Helps with any stiffness.

You are right to want a goal in the short to medium term, it does keep you motivated. Nobody should feel that it should necessarily be similar or 'better' than their previous one. A shorter race is fine. Often stepping down a gear or doing something slightly different can be a springboard for better things further down the line.

Ohhhhh, I have a new favourite running song!!!

I run at exactly this pace! It pulled me round the last mile the other day - it gets better the more (and louder!) you listen too. :j
