    evening all...

    2.85miles in 40minutes.... run 5.. walk 3.... run 25...walk 5 to cool down.

Felt okay, wasn't too tough going. physically apart from one mega hill!

More p!ssed off mentally as runchum "found her legs" part way thru and left me with the trainer who seemed to forget i was there and was 12 feet in front of me most of the time! So frustrating...!!

This runclub is getting me out in the week but i'm not enjoying it as much as i'd hoped... i guess i just have a long way to go and a lot of ground to make up to get in the middle of the pack....

at one point she was 12-15 feet in front and i was laggin behind, so i dug in and found a faster pace to catch up... and she ticked me off for it... "oh don't do that, i'll drop back for you" that's not beneficial....

yet when we got to the last 50feet she said right "see if you can sprint to the finish, just to prove you have something else in reserve" !!!!!!!!!!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Oh Maz honey, thats very frustrating. How would you feel about going out on your own on a wednesday night and not going??
The main thing is that you said you didn't find it tough going, now a couple of weeks you wouldn't have been able to say that. You will continue to improve and its not the distance that is a problem its the speed they go at. That is one of the main reasons I haven't joined a club, I know I could cover the distance but I am not a fast runner and would never be able to keep up.
I don't know what else to suggest really, if your not enjoying it I worry that it will put you off alltogether. Maybe see how next week is then make a decision
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

thanks hun........... i'm evaluating it, i'm on holiday next week then club is off officially for 2 more (but the girls will be meeting up to run anyway but without jog leaders) so i will have to decide before the next 10 week block...

i've said i'm doing it, but haven't paid yet.

actually the run was good, the route was good and very challenging. it was just my head that was messed up motivationally.... but with hindsight it was a good run...

    Hi HWGA,

Oooh that sounds painful. If you have any soluble painkillers that you can stick in tepid water, let them dissolve then take a mouthful and just hold it over the affected parts. Refresh it now and then, swallowing the first lot. Be prepared to sit down to give it chance to get to the pain and you'd be amazed at the results.

If you don't have any, do you have a local 24 hr supermarket with a pharmacy that's also open? IF you need to go out to get any, then PLEASE whatever you do, go carefully, or preferably wake OH and ask him to go with you, or to get them himself. If none of the above is an option then just take 2 painkillers every 4 - 6 hours and hold a hot water bottle (?) or something warm to your face.

    Good luck HWGA.

    Morning Maz

I would say try not to worry about laggin behind..you have to be praised for getting out and doing it! One of my runchums joined a running club but then dropped out because she was always at the back and it demotivated her. I was scared of the same thing happening to me too but the trainer in our group just ran up and down the line - up to the front and down to the back - he made the front ones drop and do push ups and squats at one point until us at the back caught up!:rotfl:

I would say the trainer has perhaps got her motivational techniques a bit screwy! You will have to weigh up the benefits of the running club - it pushes you to limits you may not push yourself to on your own (would you have done that hill) against running on your own or with runchum.

Maz, i have just read sally's post and i totally agree with what she said..its not the distance its the speed....I found that difficult the other night, but I am not sure i will ever get any faster on my own - I am too much of a wuss to push myself!

    Hi All,

Done my 4 (and a few bits) miles of hills this morning and am thoroughly knackared! Found some good hills though so I'll be back there next week as well!

HWGA - have you tried clove oil? My dentist uses it to numb teeth before injections and you use it for tooth and gum pain - just try not to get any on your tongue - it tastes gross! You can pick it up from boots for a few quid. Hope you get it sorted anyway...

Hope everyone has nice runs/walks today!

    Becky
