steady as she goes notapenny.....!
Rich - i have runclub tomorrow... this is the schedule
Week 8 of the 10 week 'Intermediate - Level One' programme
talk / advice
5 mins walk & mobility warm-up
5 mins jog
3 mins walk
25 mins jog
5 mins walk, cool-down, stretch & feedback
Do i try and push myself a little since it is a relatively easy session on paper?
Or do i just do a steady at my own pace run, and accept that i will be at the back?
i'm undecided.... coach advise me please!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Right you orrible lot, I blame you all entirely...just booked myself in for the running club tonight to be told they will be running 5-7 miles....in an hour!

HELP!
First up, there's a *major* difference between 5miles in an hour (12 minute miles) and 7 mile in an hour (8.5 minute miles)...
Secondly, I'd just ignore the time if I were you - just go as slowly as you want - getting round's much more important than keeping up imo...0 -
:hello:
Hello you lovely lot..its raining, sorry pouring and ended up taking the car to work:( money and no exercise grrrrrr
:j Sammy you go and I want to hear all about this run tonight (especially the details on Mr Hunk!)
Chickadee how are your legs today?
Becky congrats on that fartlek session...thats very good going. Looking forward to mine tomorrow!
Maz, you will be fine tonight, take it at whatever pace feels ok at the time. How about start at easy pace and do some faster bits in there every now and then?
Question for you all. Now as I have a ballott place and don't officially have to raise any money, I would however like to do something for charity. So I have decided to donate half of money raised to DD pre-school but I need another charity. Yes there are hundred but where do I start! Does anyone have any charities that are close to their heart?I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

The first thing is that none of these sessions should ever put anyone under pressure otherwise they defeat the whole point - which is to try to encourage people to run long term.
I'm a bit concerned about the thinking behind it though - it looks just cobbled together. You'll probably guess that I'll say the 3 mins walk shouldn't be in there, but the fact that its after a 5mins slow jog kind of defies logic.
To train new muscles even easy pace is what is required. If I was you I'd set off as slowly as you like and ignore the walk. Then if you feel like you've got something in reserve push on towards the end.
Ultimately, you're not there to obey anyone, but to get out of it what you want to get out of it.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
