Ok so if a go at an easier pace I will burn fat rather than glycogen? I need to burn some serious fat I tell you!

if that's true i run so slowly that i should be burning fat easily! the trouble is my slow is my maximum effort so probably not effective...

Wow, the finishers in the womens race was a close one... poor jo pavey, and sneaky 2nd place unknown...

and can i just say 5 minute miles!! !!!!!!???!?

Yes - this is where a lot of people go wrong. Reduce the effort and burn more fat, walking burns more fat than running per mile.

There's 2,000 calories of glycogen in the body and 50,000+ of stored fat. The fat can onkly supply energy slowly (about 2-3 minutes per mile slower than ultimate pace), so you have to ease off to burn significant fat!

Maz, right there with you on ALL of the above :o

And I do hear you about the walking Rich, really I do - I will try and bear it in mind - but running is really toning my stomach muscles whereas walking only did that very slightly, plus I never come home grinning from a walk!

Mmm I'm craving (and currently stuff my face with) french bread - just plain, just cooked, exactly how I like it.

Carbs are my friend right now!

sally - you can watch it live on bbc.com at the same time as doing this! Shame I went out S'bury's and missed most of it (whoops)
