i can not possibly think about 150 miles per week, thats crazy! Do you think they do only 1 session a day or break it down into more smaller sessions?I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Its 2 most days and 3 on some. But they still have rest days and the vast majority of the work is VERY easy.
I suspect when I was breaking down at 80 miles per week I was working too hard. These are the things you learn as you go along, but I ran 7 half marathons in 8 weeks all with times between 1-12 and 1-14, so its not too surprising the body screamed a bit.

No, other factors which just stopped any available time.
The burnout caused anaemia and a month of virtually no training. But the enforced rest meant I ran my fastest marathon at the end of that month. So the burnout was short lived. The body really is quite amazing at sorting itself out!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

They don't have to win to make money.
It costs around £3,000,000 just in appearance fees to get the top guys on the start line of the London Marathon.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

No, I've stated it before somewhere.
Fastest is 2:48:58, second fastest is 2:52:22.
But that fastest one was very, very disappointing as I had gone through 20 miles in 1-58 and was all on for a sub 2-40. But I didn't know the course, which had been described as fast and flat, but there were stiff hills around 22 miles which I hadn't held reserves for so it fell apart. I went from 10th to 47th in that last stretch. Bear in mind there was a brand new car for winning there was some decent prize for 10th place awaiting!
