What not streching muscles/ligaments enough Ha Ha (high pitched wail - I'm scared of pain!!)
I am running Mon-Fri with Sat/Sun off (still walking 'doing' ponies etc). Looking at the training plan that is probably not the right thing to be doing - but it does seem to be suiting at the mo................
I think that as (hopefully) distances improve I should then cut down to 3 days? Once the light goes completely I will have to wean myself of said springy turf and hit the roads!!
I have a labrador - she is one of these working 'full of life' types and is enjoying our short runs although, poor thing sniff time is restricted! She does take herself back to bed as soon as we get back though!!!
Hi Notapenny,
I started with 5 days a week (mon-fri) too - it suited me fine, but you're right about once you get up to longer distances it does get tougher to do five days in row...Fridays used to kill my legs
So now I do 5/6 days a week but with a rest day on Mon and/or Friday, which does mean I have to give up an hour or two each day of the weekend but I find it gets me up earlier anyway...
So my advice - stick with what's comfy for you!

Maybe we need to go trainer shopping. Any recommendations
Hey spud - if you are walking for a bit, just dig out some supportive trainers and decent socks/trainer liners (thin ones with no seams are best).... make sure your socks are higher than the line of your trainers so you don't get blisters on heels, which i never get when running for some reason, but always get when i walk in my leisure trainers.....
once you start running, you might want to get your gait analysed in a running shop, you don't have to buy there but they should be happy to give advice........I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Yes becky-rtw I must admit that Friday is definately the worst day!!
Ah ha poodlecrazy running as a hangover cure - Mmm not sure about that one - at least not the type of hangovers I've had in the past.....!!!! Part of the new keep fit regime is to not drink vin rouge any more - not a drop has passed my lips for 8 days now!!! Woweee!! This is all to do with money saving right?!!0 -

Just catching up on the weekend's activities. Well I did the 5K with possibly the worst hangover I have ever had!! Had to get OH to drive to the race as there was no way I was capable of driving, had to stop to be sick on the way too - lol!!
Anyhow, serves me right. I even fell down the stairs on Sat night so had a cracking bruise on my knee and chin, great start...
Well got round the 5K in 25:32 which I'm happy with. Would be great to crack 25min but lets face it I didn't give myself the best chance did I??!
Have entered another 5K for December 7th, may try and stay off the booze for that one.
On the positive side, I can completely recommend running as a hangover cure...
x
I'm sure I've seen that sketch on one of the 'Carry On' films!
Thanks for proving the point about running being the ultimate hangover cure - I posted that very point on Saturday, didn't expect such a willing victim to prove the point so soon though!

Lol - absolutely not, I was back on the sofa watching a double bill of Emmerdale and Corrie :rotfl: :rotfl:
Can't even consider drinking alcohol for at least a few days
I must say there is nothing better than the shower after a hungover run. Mind you, I don't think I'll try it with quite so much gusto next time, one or two glasses of Vino = fine, three bottles of wine and multiple shots = not fine.
Good luck to everyone on their running plans this week. I'm going to try a swim tonight I think, rest my knee which is looking very sorry for itself at the moment.0 -

Anyway I had a good run this morning. Perfect autumn weather. leaves changing colour and falling from the trees. What more could a man want. Well my former fitness for starters. former fitness is a good thing, at least you know what you're aiming for chris!!! I'm striving for some kinda unknown goal at the moment!!
So peeps, brownies again tonight... shall i run again and try to emulate my epiphinous (sp) solo run from last monday? or be a good wife and mother and come home in between to do houseley duties?!
I think i can feel another run coming on!! but don't quote me on it!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Lol - I take your point on Corrie, but it was about all my brain could cope with!! I noticed our thread slipped to page three, couldn't let that happen so here it is.. bump!0
