Rich, I think Maz has suggested Beginners and Beyond Virtual Runners for the club name too. I could have that wrong, but it would take me hours to go back and check without a proper internet connection, sorry.
Hope you're well and the training is going okay?
I haven't scoured the posts for nominations up to Friday's deadline yet but will pick it up.

Hi all, haven't had a chance to catch up with the thread and may not before my wedding. Am still doing my 4+ miles every 3 days to keep me ticking over. Just wanted to touch base, to use annoying management parlance. The OV Diary
(Start RP=56)
Week1 Total Weekly Workload 46 miles, 12 running, 34 walking RP=49
Week2 Total Weekly Workload 41.5 miles, 14 running, 27.5 walking RP=45
Week3 Total Weekly Workload 41 miles, 13 running, 28 walking RP=44
Week4 Total Weekly Workload 46.5 miles, 17 running, 29.5 walking RP=44
Week 4 was another solid week with more training effect being seen (this is in effect the body saying its happy with everything and ready to take on more work).
Week3
Mon 15/9 Rest
Tues 16/9 10K 1:15:15 (Pulse 130)
Weds 17/9 6.5 miles Brisk Walk
Thurs 18/9 7.0 miles Brisk Walk
Fri 19/9 10K 1:06:36 (Pulse 130)
Sat 20/9 6.5 miles Brisk Walk
Sun 21/9 8.0 miles Brisk Walk (2hrs 20mins)
Week4
Mon 22/9 7.0 miles Brisk Walk
Tues 23/9 10K Run/Walk (Stopped 4 miles, couple of niggles - 5K 30:59)
Weds 24/9 6.5 miles Brisk Walk (1hrs 48mins)
Thurs 25/9 10K 1:04:11 (Pulse 132)
Fri 26/9 8.0 miles Brisk Walk (2hrs 17mins)
Sat 27/9 6.5 miles Brisk Walk (1hr 49mins)
Sun 28/9 10K 1:02:23 (Pulse 128)
That is now the halfway mark in the 8 week fitness program. It is worth reiterating that at the start of the last 4 weeks I was unable to run 1 mile without feeling discomfort and subsequent stiffness. Due to pretty much no training for 2 years the starting point also involved completely untrained muscles.
To progress from that starting point to the body being happy with regular 10Ks is something that is virtually impossible to achieve on running activity alone (or at least to be in the same position of good strength in the legs etc.). The overall workload has consisted of 68% Walking and just 32% Running. This is why I'm such a fan of including a lot of walking for beginners on untrained muscles and/or carrying excess weight.
4 more weeks to go and then the real training starts.....Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

WOW thats a lot of exercise...is it shifting the weight yet?
Glad to see you're getting good 10K times there too - you'll be faster than me soon! It amazing how quickly those times are coming down...

So the big day is Friday!
Theres nothing to worry about, after all nothing can go wrong! Can it.....?
Just remember to say 'I Do' at the appropriate point and you should escape with your legs intact, which after all is what we're interested in on here.
But best of luck and have a glass of champagne for us (and 2 for Becky!)!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
