I loved it. I was in training for Commonwealth Games but broke my arm and had to give up :(

I got stabbed in the throat a couple times and had some monster bruises, especially when I came up against a couple of german fencers. I also nearly neutered some poor bloke when my ep!e went behind his box... :o

Wow, you must have been good! I did a few schools competitions, but we were only a small town and couldn't seem to keep coaches, they kept going off to bigger and better things. The last guy we had was an army coach who had a really comprehensive training routine, he even had tapes made for us with relaxation sort of 'guided meditation' things to listen to after doing our daily exercises at home!

i did a fartlek! - At my running club last week... my trainer person made me do a sprint on the last 50meters, she said it was to prove that at 3 miles i wasn't spent and exhausted, she said she wanted to prove to me that i had somethng left in the tank..... i laughed and said reassuring for emergencies if i should encounter a flasher or some neds i wish to escape from!

Yeah I always try and sprint the last half mile or so if I can, its so nice to know that you could have done further (but you just didn't fancy it)

But yesterday I really got into steps - wow that is hard when you are tired (I counted a total of 50 up and 50 down on my 3 mile route, most of which are in the last half mile -yikes!) I'm hoping that does something to stamina as well cause it certaintly makes me out of breath :rotfl:
  • Time for a rpost about club plans Rich.......... would you do the post explaining it all, pleeeeease.......

Jinky - getting fit is as good a reason as any but having a race to aim for is something good too.... and you are allowed to walk the RFL so i say you should think about it...... no pressure... yet!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

steps as in stairs? or kerbs? - sounds interesting... and bound to be more challenging!

I could hold my own:rolleyes: I was training foil and sabre as they were just about to introduce women's sabre at CW at the time. Expected to medal at both disciplines. My arm didn't heal straight (the break is directly before the wrist joint and my hand sits quinty) so i can't control the wrist action as accurately anymore.

Maz - sign me up for the RFL. I'm planning on repeating the 10k in May too if you're interested in joining me?.

Steps are good! (Especially Lisa Scott-Lee :p)

They develop leg speed as well your stamina if there are lots (100 is lots!).

Just be a bit careful - the achilles is getting very stretched on the up steps.

You'll have some nice firm calf muscles if you do that on a regular basis - its an extreme form of hill session basically.

Stairs or steps (i.e. to get over Jubilee Bridge is quite a lot of steps...they even have a lift for those not inclined!)

I wouldnt want to run off many kerbs round here...death by cyclist or taxi would await!:p

Whats an rPost? A refresher post?

Basically, we're just wanting nominations for the various positions up to this Friday. All the info re timetables and such like is on the post in my sig and that, in turn, links back to the original post about the idea.

Well they are not all at once which is good, the worst are the four to get onto the road where my office is as the are huge in height (is that tread?) and the road is a hill...not amusing at the end of a fast run day!

I do actually have very solid calf muscles already...I'm trying to slim them down so maybe steps is a bad idea :rotfl:
