Please Lucifa Rich is going to pass out in a moment no more pics of pretty ladies not wearing very much!

Got my four miles tomorrow - how long should I be doing each of my intervals for? I currently run extremely fast for as long as possible (i.e. usually to the next lampost), but should I be aiming to go a bit slower but for longer in my fast bits?? Rich??

Look at Rich's Fartlek training schedules Becky. various different ones, depending on what distance you want to up your pace for... Try post 4318. Hope the link works... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=14389905&postcount=4318

Hehe.. I did that for a little while when I was younger, really enjoyed it - although, if you were anything like me you'd have been fit, but covered in bruises :D

  • Hello all!

Glad to see that everyone is out and about :T . Welcome Jinky, you'll be surprised how quickly you become addicted :D . Sorry for those of you who are ill, horrible isn't it, I get really stroppy when I don't run so hope you are going easy on those around you!! lol!

Feeling absolutely fine after Sunday's 10K, which isn't that surprising as I lost nearly 5 min crossing my legs.

Not running till tomorrow but have 'pole training' tonight for 2 hours. I'm also in the process of getting my Exercise to Music qualification so that I can teach aerobics types classes which is all good fun but is impacting on running as there is only so much I can fit in!

Anyhow, progress comes in many shapes and sizes I guess.

    Keep plodding everyone! xx

You've impressed me again! I didn't realise you'd started fartlekking yet. (Always a useful word to drop into conversations and then leave people to their own devices to find out what it is :p).

Did you see the fartlek post for Sally last night? There's loads of variations that people have tried to structure into fartlek sessions, but my view is they should be as flexible as possible bearing in mind your overall aim.

Your overall aim is to become quicker at distances of 10K to Marathon. So in your fartlek session you want to experience speeds faster than 10K pace. Out and out 100m sprinting is not particularly useful, what you want is sustained bursts at greater than 10K pace. Anything above 10K pace will ultimately convert into improved race pace.

So the answer to your question is YES (Now why couldn't I have just said that in the first place? :p)

I loved it. I was in training for Commonwealth Games but broke my arm and had to give up :(

I got stabbed in the throat a couple times and had some monster bruises, especially when I came up against a couple of german fencers. I also nearly neutered some poor bloke when my ep!e went behind his box... :o
