I have planned to do a 10k run this morning. I have got changed and it has started to rain, so I feel less motivated. I am posting this because I am telling everyone I am going out and committing myself to report back in an hour or so. Here goes - I am out the door.

By the time I got to the door the rain had subsided to a refreshing drizzle. Heavens opened again on my home stretch but job done. I notice now that the sun is trying to get out!

Next run will be tomorrow evening with the running club.

Well done pania, I am sure that you will keep to your goals.

It will soon be July 1 which is good news for social smokers who want to stop.

Try giving yourself some positive affirmations eg

"I choose to enjoy a healthy lifestyle"

Say them during the day and write them out occassionally.

Rather than do it mechanically try and feel it as well because it is the emotion rather than the thought that influences our behaviour

    Good luck

Thanks cnoelj. Welldone for getting outta the house!! Looking out the window at the moment a run looks far from appealing!! Good job i have a lot of work to do and can go this evening when it's a bit better.
Thanks for the advice. I really hate it and just do it out of habit! Have tried PMing you but the system seems to be playing up at the mo, is it just my computer or others to?
Have a great day, relax and enjoy now you've done the hard work

Right my plan for the week is:

Monday - walking to and from work (5 miles)
Tuesday - walk to work, 5k on treadmill
Wednesday - walking to and from work (5 miles)
Thursday - walk to work, 5k on treadmill
    Friday - being lazy
Saturday or Sunday - 5k+ run outdoors (which day depends on when I go out over weekend!)

Pania, I really sympathise over the social smoking - I don't usually smoke at home but generally do when I go out, tried to stop a couple of weeks ago but gave in during a moment of stress! Finished that packet on Friday though, and managed to go out on Sat without having any (not saying I didn't want any though... :o). Cnoelj, I think you're right that it'll be a lot easier when the ban comes in - I used to live in Scotland and when it was banned it didn't bother me in the slightest sitting in bars not smoking.

Am also planning to enter a 10k when I get paid this week, dragging a few of my workmates along with me too ;)

    Hi all, page 4!!!!!

I can't talk though, no run for me today the weather is appalling so much rain that it started leaking through my patio doors

Feeling slightly odd as well, stomach churning over and over I wonder if I'm getting nervous about Sunday. Does anyone else get really nervous before race day? Consolation is that the run starts at 0900 so not a lot of time to dwell on it.

Will be out tomorrow probably 4 miles.

It rained so I didn't manage the 10,000 steps (I didn't think marching up and down the aisle of the bus would be a good look). Came in at just under 7,000 (not a bad effort) in moderately high heels (even better effort!).
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Right, my running stuff is all by my bed and I'm going to go to bed shortly in orer to be able to get up to run tomorrow morning. Am nervous to say the least!! Will have a look at the race for life training schedule I did before and follow that as it worked last time. I am just really hoping it won't pour down as that will really put me off! :)

hi sea!! let us know how you get on! Sadly i don't have my "i can't run in the mornings only the evenings" excuse anymore as did my best run for a long time sunday morning! Hope you get on ok. What songs do you run to? For me it's love generation by bob sinclair or wonderful night by fat bay slim, and (hangs head) thunderbirds are go by busted!! they all match my pace an find it helps me along.

Sea, if you find that training schedule could you post it or the link to it on here? Think we might all find it helpful. Ta muchly!!!
