ooh Pania- let us know how the pilates DVD goes - I'd like to try something mroe to help with my back & strength issues. I'm just working up to going to the gym to sort everything out - if OH ever gets out of bed.

Hi all - just wanted to add another goal.
Walk 10,000 steps a day - I used to do this daily with the aid of my step counter. I'm not sure if it works with running though! If it isn't raining in the morning I'll walk to walk and report back later. If it is raining, I'm chickening out (as I don't "officially" join you lot until Wednesday)!
Re. Pilates - well worth doing! It does have parallels with yoga in that it works on the "core" and on controlling the breath while doing the movements. When you first start it's a lot harder than it looks, but the results are very quick. You also walk out of class feeling taller (not a bad thing!).
£6 a session sounds quite a lot though. Maybe you could get a second-hand DVD to start you off?:eek: What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
Afternoon all... yep BA, you're right, I feel great after yesterday's run :j Having a rest today (bit hungover
).. will be back to the walking tomorrow and running Tuesday. Feel strangely energetic at the moment which is not like me, I'm a lazy sod at heart :rotfl:
I did pilates for a little while, really want to get back to it but unfortunately the cheap (£2 a week) classes I went to are at a local college and run term time only. Let us know what the DVD's like! Just remembered I've got the New York City Ballet one here which has some pilates-like moves in it, must dig that out and get some stretching done...

Hi everyone just been for 6 mile run and I'm pooped! I felt fine all the way but now I just feel shattered think I can just about get to the bathroom, get changed, get the littlest one in bed and then collapse myself.
R.e. pilates - I love it but haven't been for ages, unfortunately the person who does most of the classes round here is someone from my teacher training course and I can't stand her! Will try to find another one, usual price around here is £3.

How did you get on Sea?? Did you go for a run? I will let you know how I get on with the pilates DVD - hoping to get up early and do it before the brood wake up and ruin my peace - good intentions and all that!:A
Evab - well done on 6 miles, did you feel Pilates made a difference. Realistically I can't do a class and 5 runs a week to train for North Run so have compromised and bought the DVD - allegedly after 30 times I'll have a new body :j we shall see!
Redsquirrel - don't you feel better having a hangover knowing how much exercise you have done though. I feel that much exercise "deserves" alcohol!
As for fluid infiltration, if you really think about it, it sounds quite rude doesn't it - I definately don't have that kind of fluid infiltration :rotfl:

HI BA - the running club I used to be with incorporated Pilates into their stretching routines and I used to go to a session as well, it helped me to stretch my muscles, I looked leaner and also it helped with core stability so my back and torso were stronger. I would definitely recommend it.0
