Hey minnie spender, more than happy to have you on board!! Sorry to hear about your health problem, but you've certainly taken a good step towards getting fit again by setting yourself some goals. We have a bit of light hearted banter on her to keep us motivated at the same time as reporting on our successes (or failures in my case!) to meet our fitness goals. Dance classes sound great fun, what kind of dance do you do?
Oh and please excuse the smutty page, just skim over that when you read the thread, think midweek fever hit us all!!! he he.
So let us know when you want to get started and once again welcome on board!!!

    Thanks for the welcome!

Don't worry about my health problems - I don't! I never say "ill" and I never say "problem" - both are too negative. Even when things are impacting on my day-to-day stuff I put on my lipstick and get out there. I can trick myself into feeling OK and so far it's never failed.

This thread is incredibly positive and supportive - that's what attracted me! As for the "smutty page" - I don't think it was that bad! Some of the threads on here need a good dose of bromide, but this isn't one of them! :rotfl:

I realistically can't start until Wednesday. I've checked the dance school timetable and that's tap. Hurrah! My favourite! Over the years I've done all sorts of dance - ballet, tap, salsa, street (oh dear...!), flamenco, jazz, theatre - and it's all good (apart from street. And bodypopping - that was one class and I never went back. In my defence, it was the 80s ;)). I'm no Darcy Bussell, but that's not the point (ooh, sorry, very bad pun). There's nothing like a good shimmy to raise the spirits!

cnoelj - I think the above answered your question! And I'm good at goals! Your job sounds excellent, btw!

I'm going to sign off now until Wednesday (drowning in paper here) but like Arnie, I'll be back!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

    Hi everyone
Been for a 2 mile run today. Didnt manage to get out until lunchtime so it was a bit warm. I'm hoping to fit in 2 or 3 more runs before my 2nd race for life in 10 days time.

Well the title says it all - pilates!!! Apparently it stretches your muscles and tones the legs - so I'm off to try it with my friend this morning - we shall see. To be fair it did say in my training plan to do pilates as part of the plan, together with running - I just ignored that bit. I have however put three pairs of jeans on ebay as I wasn't overly keen on them and I still have 5 left in my wardrobe  how naughty is that!

So decided not to do long run today, feel achey - worked out I have clocked up about 13 miles this week so I am pretty pleased with myself. I'm going to do my long one in the morning before work - schedule says 6 miles - so sobeit:eek:

    Have a good day everyone

  • Hi P - hope you had a good run - Pilates is apparently

"The aim of this programme is to tone and strengthen the powerhouse muscles. Takes you through the key postural positions and flowing motions which will provide greater stabilisation in everything you do.

    Better Coordination
    Defined Waist
    Improved Circulation
    Firmer Buttocks & Thighs " :j sounds good :j

Completely scrub my last message however, rang the Leisure Centre and it was £6 to "drop in" on the session and they do it in courses, £40 per course   So I told my friend "I'm a dfw don't you know" and thought I'm not doing that.

So change of plan - went for a run (as I can't run tomorrow as DH is busy and I am in charge of the children).

I did 5.9 miles in 56 mins :j :j , knackered but can now have my rest day tomorrow and follow my programme. This of course means I have done 18 miles this week running

Next - my thigh problem!! I posted on another forum who said that as it had happened so suddenly it was probably "a bit of fluid infiltration in response to exercise and settles down after a few weeks" :j

Anyway just in case I have had a nosey on ebay and bought a pilates DVD for 99p plus £1.49 postage :j . How DFW is that!!!!

Off to get dressed now, supposed to leave for my mum's in an hour, kids not dressed (neither am I but I am not introducing smut to the board :rotfl: )
