Pania, I'm still here and reading avidly and admiring you all. I'm reassured to hear that blackangel's legs aren't completely perfect.

I haven't run since Monday mainly because of a horrible work deadline but promise I'll be back out there tomorrow in yet another heroic attempt to run a ten-minute mile.

Using the handy gmap thing I have worked out that I walk miles just in the course of every day life. For example yesterday afternoon I walked 4.8 miles picking up kids from two schools. And it's hilly where I live so it's like ascending Kilimanjaro twice a day just to take kids to school and pick them up.

Sorry that's nothing to do with running, I just feel rather proud!

Will report in tomorrow to [STRIKE]read the smut [/STRIKE]boast about my running success
    Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.62

Well done, you are doing far more exercise than you realise :T

Please return for smut later - although I no longer wish to discuss my (expanding) thighs  ;) I have decided to sell all my size 8 jeans as they will only return to that size if I give up running - as long as they don't expand anymore I can accept it (I guess)

I will now have to just walk around without jeans on as I have none to wear :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oops. I didn't run last night, sorry :o

I feel terrible for not running but I don't have any time. Last night I had to paint a wall, do 3 loads of washing, cook dinner, wash up, wash my hair...there simply wasn't time for running.

Tonight I'm food shopping, got 3 more loads of washing to do, need to clean the bbq, clean garden furniture, paint 2nd coat on wall, and not to mention clean entire house ready for sunday (fathers day). I know this isn't an average week for me, but even on quiet weeks I sometimes struggle to fit a run in. Because even a half hour run isn't half hour...as the stretching takes a good 20 minutes when I get home, then I need to wash hair etc and the whole thing takes about 1 hour 20 :(

Anyone else get all worked up about time and fitting runs in?!

Just done a hard work out

easy run to the local park where there is a speed skating track and did pyramid speed work.

    It works like this:-

1 lap at a good 5k -mile race pace

    1 lap recovery

Then repeat for 2 laps of effort and 2 laps recovery

and repeat for 3 as above

Then bring it down to 2 laps and then back to 1 with the appropriate recovery laps

Therefore it is 12321 effort alternating with 12321 recovery.

This can be adapted to suit your needs. Bear in mind the following though

    1) The easy and recovery elements are just that. The work is done with the speed elements. We want to be bringing the heart rate back down between efforts.

    2) When working on the speed try and keep it consistant throughout. In other words ensure that you dont start so fast that you cannot maintain that speed towards the end of the session.

It was hard and hot. I am sure I felt better during the half marathon on Sunday! Felt really good afterwards though

Can sympathise with this... my hair start to finish takes a good 2 hours.... 4 if I leave it to dry naturally!!
