I did my run - while the children were at karate,

I ran 2.8 miles.......well, I say "ran" but I jogged most of it and walked some of it. It took me 35 minutes which included a stop at Panias house on the way past for a glass of water and to prove, as I stood dripping sweat on her doorstep, that I had actually been for the run as I said I would :D

:rotfl:I hope you'll be dragging, er, persuading her to come out with you too ;) Well done for getting out there.

Maz - the club sounds great, so glad you enjoyed it :)
Sally - oww.. I hope the blister doesn't cause you any problems.

I walked home (2.5 miles) then did a bit of the New York Ballet workout, combined with some Pilates for a stretch. Got a bit of a pain right in my inner thigh which is where I suffered in the last few miles of the Moonwalk, hoping that isn't going to cause me problems in the future.

Ooh and I discovered this today - http://www.realbuzz.com/en-us/MyStuff/index?pageID=2021 - where you can record your runs and set goals etc.. I like playing with things like this :D

There seems to be a screen full of glowing pride tonight - everybody's at it! Fantastic.

I take it you're sticking it with it Maz?

Were they a good bunch then? Its unusual to find anything else amongst runners tbh.

    And what was the 'spiel'?

I really don't know if the others were nice although to be honest as only ran with the trainer, my runchum rachel and one other woman who i knew from kids swimming...... when we pulled up i thought, oh no, look at all those yummy mummy types... but then i had a look and there were some uglies, and a couple of chubbies., and some oldies... so i felt okay... as an ugly chubby old person myself!!

I'm looking forward to moving thru the pack and not be the last person!! but for now i'm happy to be getting guidance and routes which will challenge at a time and day that suits my shedule...

The spiel was allsorts of stuff like "nice small steps, not time for strides yet" (even though i often get into a stride towards the end, it was curtailed by the trainer! pah!) " lift your chin up, open your chest muscles out" , dietary advice, och loads of stuff... but like i say i didn't really get it, she was giving it all to runchum rachel! I just got the odd "how's it going?" i think it was to check that i could speak and wasn't pushing too hard....
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

Thanks for that link, might have to sign up for that! I already use realbuzz to plan my route so this could be handy.
Well done for your walk home and new york ballet (sounds interesting does it do lots of stretching?)

All sounds a bit complicated. 'Open your chest muscles out'? Not sure I know how to do that!

Get you, though, with the competitive spirit kicking in on the first session.

    No stopping our Maz now.

  • Hello all. Can I share my disappointment here that what with the debt crisis and everything (cost of transport/accom) not to mention the time it's taking out of training hours to get us out of a hole, I've decided not to run the marathon I planned in October :( . I'm disappointed and feel a bit of a failure, but I'll keep running anyway.... :o

I only tend to do the warm up bit of the ballet workout which has lots of bending and stretching, and the floor exercises which are good for legs and abs. It's all very controlled and quite hard work but I like it. You can usually get the DVDs quite cheap on eBay, or you might be able to find some clips online if you're interested in giving it a go.

    FMN,

There's always another race, however disappointing missing out on one is.

It will be easier to train when you don't have to worry about all the other rubbish!

And whats more, theres absolutely no point in forcing yourself to do a marathon if you don't feel prepared, might as well take a deep breath and pick one for next year.
