  • i just wondered........! Well it's good to get these things out in the open..... i just thought if there was a scientific explanation, you might know it!!

me n paula radcliffe eh? well i suppose it's about the only thing we'd have in common!!!

An hour til runclub time! ohgodwhatamidoing!

Just think if you get to meet Paula you can have a right good chat now on common ground.

Just remember these clubs usually dont like newbies running off and leaving them behind - so go easy on them! - You'll be fine.

Blimey I go out for the afternoon and you lot have a party without me :(
On the club name I like most of them so maybe we put all the best ones down and we have a vote?
Maz I know exactly what you mean about the toilet thing and I read an article in runners world that its really common and its down to the fact that your body produced lots of adrenaline and that makes you want to go!
They sugested taking something for the runs if you are going to do a race as its more likely to happen with added nerves etc!
Anyway I am awaiting your report Maz from tonight!
HWGA so sorry about your dam sons wedding...how dare he!

Oh and I forgot...Ive done something REALLY REALLY stupid.
Decided to pop to town this afternoon and not using my pea sized brain chucked on a pair of shoes without thinking. Now I have a mahooosive blister the size of a 10p on my heel. So answers on a Postcard whats the quickest way to clear it up before sunday :(

Oh Sally, you and Maz seem to be into self-inflicted injuries this week.

Where are we now? Wednesday. That should be enough time to get a blister sorted out. If its still a blister I'd rip it off and let the fresh air get to the raw skin - it will toughen up much quicker then.

If its still tender on Sunday put multiple layers of plasters over it, once the blood starts flowing in the race you shouldn't notice it.

Are you still buzzing in anticipation?

Im a right numpty, could have kicked myself when it started in the middle of town...ended up hobbling around trying not to make it worse!

Its open to the air and have had flip flops on trying to let it dry out as quick as possible.

Have you ever used compeed, friend recommended them and said they were marvellous, worth a go? or just stick with the plasters?
Now I might have to give the run tomorrow a miss. Got to walk 2 miles to work tomorrow anyway so might put some stretches in as I walk (will look so silly but needs must)

Don't think I can call it buzzing...have been thinking to myself that I will NEVER be this under prepared for a race again. Feel stupid for lack of training, poor diet and generally under prepared. Race infor and t-shirt arrived today too so brought it home thats its only days away.

Oh another question would you wear the t-shirt provided? Bit wary it might cause rubbing in places :rotfl:

I did my run - while the children were at karate,

I ran 2.8 miles.......well, I say "ran" but I jogged most of it and walked some of it. It took me 35 minutes which included a stop at Panias house on the way past for a glass of water and to prove, as I stood dripping sweat on her doorstep, that I had actually been for the run as I said I would :D

So, I am very pleased with myself. I have made a start, and what's more I did it on my own - self motivated!!! I think I am more impressed with the fact I didn't cop out of it, as much as anything else!!

Let's just hope I can still walk in the morning........:o

Blimey, running is childsplay in comparison to keeping up with this thread! :rotfl:

I didn't run today, knees and ankles are a bit achey but still not feeling any major adverse effects. I will run the school run again tomorrow though.

I need to take the next step now and actually go out for a run, without the pram. Sort of feel like I will look a bit silly though, and I'd love someone to run with, but I don't know anyone who would come with me.

I'll get over it once I've done it a couple of times I think.....just have this image of the local assortment of hoodies and chavs pointing and laughing as I run round the big empty patch of grass that our council laughingly call a park. :o:o
