DFW Running Club!!

Make that 11 pages of new posts, wow this thread has really gathered some momentum! In the 3 days and 11 pages we've:
1) Welcomed 2 new members
2) Had a conversation about boobs
3) Laid the foundation for a new running club (which I am in for BTW!)
Becky, whereabouts in London are you? I'm in South London, but too far to run to my office in the city (15Km according to mapmyrun.co.uk!). If there's more of us southern softies maybe we can organise to car pool for these run meets? Also, don't complain about being IDed, I'd love to get IDed now!
Rich, are you PMing the ladies for pics? I think there's a word for that! Run it off mate!
redsquirrel, good luck training for the marathon, you have plenty of time to train up for it, but don't leave it too late!
Sally, best of luck for the half. Make sure you get a few days rest beforehand!
pjc33, welcome. You do have time to get yourself ready for a 10k, but get cracking! Hampton Court should be great to run in. I did the nike 10k at Wembley last weekend and the course wasn't very nice at all!
Maz, well done on the swimming[STRIKE] and continued running[/STRIKE]. (edit: just seen your post!) Thanks for asking about my stag weekend (twice!). That is the next part of this post!
Well, we took of from Luton at 0830 on Friday and by 0900 I had my first beer in my hand, as did everyone else. That set the tone for the weekend really. The weather was glorious, up to 29 degrees and no clouds to be seen anywhere the whole time. Some members of the party who were complaining about the heat had to be reminded of the weather back home!
We had a great time, there was much drinking and laughing and not too many unpleasant incidents. One member of the party got given change by a taxi driver in Peruvian currency, worth even less than Hungarian forints, so was ripped of by about a fiver. Other than that the only unpleasantness was done to me intentionally. We stopped off at a "gentlemen's" (inappropriately named IMO) club so that I could crawl around on all fours like a pony while a young lady rode on my back. Of course, this was on a stage while dozens of leering drunk morons cheered, pointed and laughed. Thankfully we left before they decided to do anything else, I understand this was one of the tamer humiliations they put the stag through.
So apart from the hangovers and severe lack of sleep (about 3-4 hours a night) we had a great time. We even got some sightseeing in! We spent most of the time outdoors, they have loads of great outdoor pubs and clubs right by the Danube. Very reasonable too. If that was London you'd be robbed blind, if you even had the weather for it. My biggest vice was smoking, which was seemingly permitted everywhere! Now knocked firmly on the head (don't worry, I've done it before and not started "full time" again!).Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Ok, I'll get my coat.....:o
That kind of pun would have earned you penalty shots if you'd been on my stag, mate!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Rich - how rude, but how true I am very demanding!
Beinerts - without saying too much I live in SW1 and work in WC2, so I'm prob not too far from you...I run over the bridge into Clapham most days because it extends my route. Nice idea about the car pool - except I don't drive...
Oh the stag do sound great - not too much pain by the sounds of it! Jealous of your weather.
Are you going to the London meet in October...its somewhere else on the DFW board?0 -
Beinerts - I was going to assume you were joining us in our 'club'. Considering the female/male ratio I didn't think I needed to ask. Were the sunglasses to hide bleary eyes or the lack of furriness above said eyes?
Anyway, let this be a lesson to you - don't get married more than once!
Red - You've got my respect going for this Edinburgh Marathon. I tend to train on hills and then wimp out and run flat marathons. You, on the other hand, must just be tough! Remember though that walking is excellent for strengthening tendons and muscle connectors in the knees and hips to ready them for the workload ahead - so its all good.
Herewegoagain - Get some sock on! (Nuff said)
Becky - I'm assuming the head has recovered and you're back in the land of the living. I've got to say you're showing excellent 'party girl' form in readiness to run for the Social Sec position!
Maz - There's no need to worry about verbal abuse for missing a planned run. Just be aware that besides being number 1 on the members list, you're also now number 1 on the list of 'members to be flogged at the first meet'.
Angela - Don't you just hate it when running partners go all wobbly on you? It's just not cricket. That Hampton Court route does sound as though it will be scenic though and, more importantly, flat from what I remember. You'll be fine - what's your target time?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

HWGA there is no-where here that is worth going to. I actually went to an excellent little shop in Norwich when I was visiting my sister, however there is a good place in bournemouth if you venture that way.I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. Well I'm in SE19 (zone 3) and work in EC2A, so I'm East of you on both counts! Lovely area you live in, you've got some good parks for running right on your doorstep. I drive, so don't mind driving if others are happy to chip in on fuel money.
I hadn't heard about the London meet, but am away most of October on honeymoon (back on the 20th). I'll have a dig to find out when it is. I have a rough idea where EC2 is (I only moved here last week!), but SE19 is beyond me!
It is lovely and I'm really really lucky to have a gated garden so if all else fails I can round circuits round it... but I tend to run down the embankment as its very flat and there are lots of other runners to wave at!
Its the 25th I think, I'll prob go for a few drinks (they might even go to my choice pub so thats nice).
Rich yeah I love being a party girl, off out tomorrow and thurs this week, then a possible date on Sunday - I'll happily be social secretary, but you will be forced to drink only in champagne bars! :rotfl:0 -

I only have eyes for my fiancee. Usually.

The bleary eyes, thankfully!Anyway, let this be a lesson to you - don't get married more than once!
