    Hi everyone!

New to the forums in general and have just stumbled across this brilliant board! I am trying to get back into running - just as well as I have a 10k at the end of September which I really should have done some more training for! Oops!

Had a few issues this year, split with my partner and had to sell our flat at the worst possible time for property in decades. But...that is all done now, and I want to get back into running and saving for things I enjoy.

Can I join the running club?

    Take care everyone, Angela x

Of course you can, you're very welcome.

You're in the same boat as me in terms of 'getting back in to it'. This is the perfect place for a bit of light-hearted banter (some of it has even been known to be about running :p).

So which 10k are you going for in Sept? We're nosey, we'll want to know all about it!

  • Maz, I get the feeling Scotland will be all gathered around the telly tomorrow after what Andy Murray has just achieved. Nadal beaten, Federer in the final tomorrow!

We'll call him British now, he used to be Scottish. :p

Well, the signs are good so far, there certainly seems to be a decent level of enthusiasm for the idea.

As for next week - my money is on the 'both'.

    HWGA,

If you're happy enough getting stuff online, I always use sportsshoes.com. They've been around a long time and are as cheap as anywhere.

Have a good look around the Sales section first - I rarely get any further lol

Thanks for your reply! I am running the Cancer Research 10k in September, will be at Hampton Court which sounded great in terms of motivating me to run by the fantastic scenery. My running 'partner' is starting to get cold feet which isnt helping - she is off to Ibiza the week before the race and so far has done no training...oops...

I have just got back from holiday (feeling about half a stone heavier) but was doing quite well before I left - was averaging about 6 - 7k 2 to 3 times a week. First time back at the gym tonight and I am getting really scared, I know it is going to hurt!

I'm going to try and get through work without thinking about it and hope when I hit the treadmill it isnt completely horrible! Have a lovely day!

Hello and welcome PJC! :) Sounds like you're well on track for the 10k, it shouldn't take you too long to get back into it.

It's the day before day 1 for me (can't decide if that should be day 0 or day -1 ), work gym opens tomorrow! I did a 5 mile (ish) walk yesterday and should do about the same today with walking to work and back. Am sure I'm going to be a sweaty breathless mess on the treadmill tomorrow though.... :o
