    Thanks Rich et al.

But there are so many types...help! Which ones for a girl with sore knees and clicky ankles?

Opps you've just answered my question!
  • Do you need to cut it to shape?

No. (I hope you bought the right size for your shoes :p)

Btw It's an interesting stat they give about 300 tonnes of force being absorbed by your feet EVERY MILE. Now take 95% of that away - you can see why some runners get injured and other don't!

Maz - how much did you pay through wherever you got them from?

Are they thinner than normal insoles? The reason i ask is because my (astroturf) football boots are quite tight, so if I get a pair for them they couldn't really be any thicker!

You should get commission from them, I'm sure you've just increased their sales!

They have something called Prosole (on the website) designed for tight fits like football boots - although I've no experience of them so can't tell you whether they are as good - I'm sure they will be.

Hi All, new to this thread (can't believe I haven't spotted it before...) -and to running, for that matte... but just thought I'd chip in my 2 cents on the whole sore knees thing...

I've been running for weight loss about 10 weeks now and the first couple of times out my knees were really sore - almost felt like when I lifted my upper leg I wasn't sure if the lower leg was gonna follow...

Anyway, I've been doing a couple of things to try and help it: 1) Got some of the sorbothane things as above. I wouldn't say that they're the miracle cure it reads like above, but they certainly help. 2) Building the muscles around the knee - been doing plenty of low impact stuff, cycling and swimming to support the knee as well as running.

These two things combined seem to be doing the trick...I still suffer a little bit with shin splints, but my knee's been behaving much better...managed 13.5 miles on tuesday without any real problems...my knee was a little sore yesterday (along with the rest of my body ;)), but I think that's normal (especially when you've done as little running as I have...).

£20 including delivery... 10% back thru Quidco..... so not really a bargain but then nearest sports shop is 25 miles for me, so online is better........

and yes, i did order the correct size, cheeky!

  • The thing that puzzles me about these is why everyone doesn't use them - its almost like those that discover them keep it a closely guarded secret, although that doesn't say much about the company's marketing, does it.

I've always paid around £15 for them, so just consider how that was quite a price 25 years ago but still well worth it many times over.

But now its an absolute no brainer, unless you want to smash your knees into pieces.

    Hardly!

I ran the 1500 meters at sports day at school (because the fast people were too busy mocking me to put in a good time) - but that's the only time in my life I've ever ran more than a mile before (25 now)...

Started out doing 2 miles with a mate in june, which nearly killed me, then have been stepping it up steadily from there. One day I'll be a proper runner though, when I grow up :)
